The Youth Hostel San Frediano is located in the very heart of the old town. It's a beautiful building, recently restored and can host up to 140 people in comfortable rooms disposed on 3 floors. It also has a restaurant where breakfast and dinner are served, as well as garden with an amazing view to the ancient city walls.
During your stay, you can relax in one of our 4 large common rooms, watching tv or reading a book and enjoy the athmosphere of a peaceful place. Otherwise you can visit the town and its major interesting landmarks, which are just a short walk away.
Lucca is a perfect base for touring all around Tuscany, being at a short distance from Florence, Pisa, Viareggio and the coast, Siena and San Gimignano.
Please note, if you are not a Member of Hostelling International there is an extra charge of �3 per person per night. Once you have stayed 6 nights at a HI Hostel you become a HI member, and no extra charges apply for future stays.

By car:
On the Motorway A11 - Firenze - Pisa Nord, exit Lucca Est.
At the roundabout turn left (follow the signs to the town centre).
Go straight ahead, over the bridge and again straight ahead along the ring around the city walls. Your entrance is Gate Santa Maria, then turn right and the hostel is after 50m.
We have a parking for guests (Free).
The town centre is a restricted traffic zone; however, guests can reach the youth hostel by car. Upon check in they will be asked identification data about their car (number plate and kind), to inform the local Administration.
By train:
from Lucca train station by walk: shorter way (20 mins approx) Once in the square in front of the train stration, walk towards to the walls and then go left until Porta San Pietro (gate san pietro); pass through the the gate, go left and the take the 1st street on the right; go all straight on until Piazza Napoleone and then Piazza S. Michele then turn right in via roma and then take the next road on left, Via Fillungo; from Via fillungo and walk all straight on until San Frediano Square. The hostel is next to the church of San Frediano.
Longer, but easier, way (30 minutes approx): once out from the train station, walk all straight on and go up on the walls; once on the walls go left until the Baluardo san Frediano, just behind the San Frediano Church, then go down from the walls; the hostel is next to the church of San Frediano.
Otherwise you can catch bus n° 18 outside the station going to the city centre, stop at San Frediano. Taxis are also available at the average cost of €7 to €10 depending on the traffic.
By bus:
Coming from Florence or Pisa by bus, the terminal is Piazzale Verdi. To come to hostel the best way is going up the city walls (when it is not dark) and walk clockwise (with the old city centre to your right) for about 10 minutes. You will find the hostel and its garden to your right after the church with the bell tower.
From the Pisa airport "Galileo Galilei":
There are buses and trains from Pisa Airport.
