The pine-clad Troodos Mountains an extensive and imposing range stretching across the centre of Cyprus are considered the very heart of Cyprus. Its highest peak is Olympos at 1952 metres. Platres at 1200 metres above sea level amidst a forest of fragrant pines, in the heart of the Troodos Mountains, is Cyprus' most popular mountain resort. Looking down towards the southern coast of the island it provides a welcoming retreat from the busier coastal resorts and is an ideal base from which to explore the region. The village offers a variety of facilities including a number of tavernas, bars, restaurants, mini-markets & souvenir shops, banks, a post office, the areas' Tourism Organisation information office, and a disco.

From Platres there are 11 nature walks, some with waterfalls and special picnic sites, where the diverse species of birds and endemic flora may be seen.
You can find these walks on the leaflet of Platres created by the area hoteliers with the aid of the local community council & the CTO.

Guest Rooms
All rooms (14.20 sq.m.) have 2 twin beds or a queen-sized bed, balcony, fitted-carpet, three-piece bathroom, ceiling-fan, colour television, direct-dial telephone, hairdryer, baby listening, and clock-radio. Mini-refrigerators are available upon request, as are coffee/tea making facilities, at a supplement.. Some rooms are interconnecting. Some rooms are suitable for handicapped guests. Non- smoking rooms are available. The veranda has two chairs and a small coffee table.

Junior Suites
Large rooms (19 sq.m) overlooking the swimming pool, with 2 twin beds or a queen-sized bed and a convertible sofa-bed, fitted-carpet, three-piece bathroom, ceiling-fan, colour television, direct-dial telephone, hairdryer, baby listening, and clock-radio. Mini-refrigerators are available upon request, as are coffee/tea making facilities, at a supplement. The large terrace (9sq.m.) has three chairs and a small coffee table.

Suites
Our suites: The Poplar, The Juniper and The Oak, feature a separate bedroom (13.65 sq.m.) with queen-size bed, ceiling-fan, hairdryer, and direct dial telephone. The living room (17.85 sq.m) has a small balcony, convertible sofa bed, colour television, mini-refreigerator, coffee/tea making facilities. The three-piece Bathroom is equipped with air-bath

Amenities

The Pendeli's public areas are the Nightingales café, The Laurels Dining Room and Veranda, The Robin's Nest bar (with fireplace for the winter months) and The Cedar Rooms.

Other facilities include: a heated open-air swimming pool (open from May until the end of October) with pool bar, sun terrace and gardens, a fitness room, Jacuzzi, sauna, a small library, a gift shop, a games room and a toddler play area.

Amongst the spa services are aromatherapy & reflexology sessions, by appointment.

Other Information

There are many Byzantine churches in the area some dating back to the early years of Christianity and several monasteries, the most famous at Kykkos with its golden icon of the Virgin Mary allegedly painted by St Luke. Nine of these churches containing fine examples of frescos and early Byzantine art are included in UNESCO's world heritage list.

Directions

From Larnaca airport take the motorway towards Limassol, turn left as you exit the airport and follow the signs. Stay on the motorway.

Once you reach the roundabouts follow the signs toward Paphos/Port/Troodos (there will be three or four of them to pass, however they are doing works now to rid of the roundabouts, and so be careful). Some will become overpasses and some underpasses. After the Tsirion football stadium, which will be on your left, you will see the exit for Platres/Troodos. Follow the signs towards the mountains. You will pass the village of Alassa, Lania, Trimiklini, Moniatis and you will then see the sign for Platres.

After 1 kilometer from the sign towards Platres, there is a turn to the left and then you will see the village in front of you. Follow the road and you will come to a T-junction. In front of you there will be a sign "Intenational Casino", take a right turn and that will bring you to another T-Junction. Take a left turn and follow the road for about 2 minutes drive. The Pendeli is on the right.


From Paphos take the motorway towards Limassol. There are four options; I have listed 3 of them only as the other one I have not recently driven:

a) Follow the motorway all the way, passing Pissouri, Curium and Kolossi to reach the outskirts of Limassol. Once you reach the roundabouts, look out for the one saying Troodos mountains. It is actually the one that is now being transformed into an overpass so it resembles a building site, be careful with which exit to take. Take that one and just follow the signs towards the mountains. You will pass the village of Alassa, Lania, Trimiklini, Moniatis and you will then see the sign for Platres.

After 1 kilometre from the sign towards Platres, there is a turn to the left and then you will see the village in front of you. Follow the road and you will come to a T-junction. In front of you there will be a sign "International Casino", take a right turn and that will bring you to another T-Junction. Take a left turn and follow the road for about 2 minutes drive. The Pendeli is on the right.

b) Follow the motorway to the Episkopi exit. Take the exit towards the mountains: Troodos. This is a more scenic route, and you may stop at the village of Omodhos on the way but a two-lane road. You will pass the Souni-Zanakia, Ayios Ambrosios, Malia, Omodhos, Mandria. After Mandria, you will arrive at a T-Junction, take a left turn and will pass through the village of Kato Platres, follow the road and you will reach Platres. On your left there will be the petrol station and the church, keep on going straight. On the T-junction take a left hand turn and you will reach us. The Pendeli is on the right.

c) Follow the motorway passing ‘Petra tou Romiou/ Baths of Aphrodite’ to the Pissouri exit. Take the exit toward the villages of Avdimou, Prastio & Pachna. After Pachna there is a junction, turn left towards Malia & Omodhos and you will be facing the mountains. After Mandria, you will arrive at a T-Junction, take a left turn and will pass through the village of Kato Platres, follow the road and you will reach Platres. On your left there will be the petrol station and the church, keep on going straight. On the T-junction take a left hand turn and you will reach us. The Pendeli is on the right.


Options b & c are the more scenic routes, passing by some small villages; you will see donkeys & herds of goats, vineyards and wineries. However they are not main roads, so if you are travelling at night time option a may be preferable.
