Description
A charming new hotel in Barcelona, located next to the emblematic Montjuc Gardens . Formerly a palace, the hotel has been carefully restored to create an elegantly furbished hotel that will make your stay a unique and unforgettable experience . The palace was built between 1927 and 1928 by the architect Ramn Ravents, and opened by King Alfonso XIII in 1929 to celebrate the Universal Exhibition in Barcelona . The landscaped area surrounding the hotel and most of Montjuic, that was laid out by Forestier for the Exhibition, contains species of vegetation, flowers and trees that are mostly Mediterranean in origin . In 1929 Miramar was turned into a restaurant, and hosted a countless number of elegant banquets up until 1959, when TVE, Televisin Espanola (the Spanish Television), started broadcasting from Catalonia, and set up its headquarters here . In 1983 the television studios moved to Sant Cugat and, inexplicably, the building fell into a state of neglect . Over the last three years this emblematic landmark has been rehabilitated, and converted into a luxury hotel that, thanks to its stunning location, dominates Barcelona .
