Hostel Galeria 13

We're located in Salvador's Historic and Cultural Centre, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site ‒ the Pelourinho.

Right in our first year we were voted best hostel in Brazil by HostelWorld members. You can also find us in Lonely Planet's finicky "Our Pick," along with some rather flattering words from the travelers' holy book.

No wonder. By staying with us you get tons of daily freebies, including the obscenely big breakfast until midday, caipirinha Happy Hour, Brazilian film sessions, videogames… Scroll down to "Facilities" for more treats.

To confirm any double room bookings from the 23rd of December till the 10th of February we will require a further payment to the hostel.

Payment conditions: A 50% non-refundable deposit is due to Hostel Galeria 13 in addition to the 10% deposit paid to HostelWorld. The 50% deposit must be made within one week of the HostelWorld booking for it to be valid.

Directions

From the bus station:

Cross the footbridge from the bus station to Iguatemi Mall and take the "Praça da Sé" minibus at the bus stop just outside the mall.

Don't worry about missing your stop, as you only have to get off at the very last stop, where the bus parks for a few minutes. Walk towards São Francisco church; on the same street at the bottom of the hill is located the hostel. You can follow the map to the hostel, or send us an e-mail requesting a Google Maps link with the walk route.


From the airport:

Take the "Praça da Sé" bus just outside arrivals, by a bus sign that reads "Ônibus Seletivo." Try to avoid the shuttle's luggage compartments, as this is not an express liner and the bus will do several stops along the way.

After 8PM it is advisable to take an airport pickup offered by the hostel. Just e-mail us the flight number, date and time of arrival. Please check with us in advance for availability and price.


Taxi or own transport

We are located on one of the few streets in Pelourinho cars can actually drive along. You have the option of arriving by taxi if you are getting into town late. As the airport is located in the neighbouring municipality of Lauro de Freitas, the cab ride naturally takes quite some time to get to your destination, and be aware that foreigners and Brazilian tourists alike are very likely to be driven an even longer way so that the meter indicates a higher fare than what you would originally pay. Always try to bargain with the cabbies; if you are lucky, you might find one willing to bring you to the hostel for as low as R$ 60, though that's rather unlikely.

If you are coming by your own transport we have the great advantage of having a parking garage just across the street.
