My boyfriend and I spent an amazing day with Mark. We stopped in Palermo on a cruise in January and Mark picked us up from the port and drove us to the stables while providing lots of interesting facts about Sicily. We went on a scenic 2 hour hack on Ambrogio and Saskia - both responsive and forward going. Then we had a delicious 3 course lunch including martinis, wine and coffee, on the terrace in the Sicilian sunshine, followed by a return transfer to the ship. My wife, two teen-age sons and I stayed with Mark, Pippa and Raz at Pippa's Paddock this August. It was a superb trip! Mark was thoughtful, attentive and went the extra mile to make sure our trip was fantastic. The accommodations were comfortable and we enjoyed the informal meals, both at the Paddock and local restaurants. The horses were lively and well behaved. Really nice place to stay & people who run it & horses to ride & countryside to ride in & pick-up service from the airport & food to eat & places to visit & drinks to enjoy & to relax!!!

The place to be if you are a lover of horseback riding in the beautiful sicilian countryside.It has all the italian charm, great atmosphere, but is well organised. Mark from Malta runs it with his daughter Pippa and Raz from the UK helps them.

Riding Holidays PLUS....
We are a small British family run holiday centre here in Sicily. We specialise in horse riding holidays but our extensive travelling around the island have enabled us to learn a lot about it and its history and we do design itineraries to suit every taste. Our place in Alia is in the midst of a mountainous farming comunity and the emphasis is on nature and old style living. We are within reach of all types of places and mix the old with the new to produce fun holidays with constant action and activity.

Typical Day

Beautiful Sicily
On our one-week riding holiday, the days vary. Most days we saddle up after breakfast and go for a 2.5 to 3.5 hour ride. We then have a cooked lunch on the terrace. In the afternoons, we either go for one of our excursions or just have some free time to relax. Most evenings we go out to dinner to different restaurants in other towns. Sometimes, we bbq on our terrace.
We always have a day off riding when we usually tour Palermo the capital. This usually includes visits to various places of interest and a lovely traditional lunch at a very local restaurant.
There is also a day when we ride for lunch to a country house. Horses are coralled, whilst we have a a home cooked 5-course meal. After a lengthy rest we set off back to our place getting there before nightfall.
We believe it is this variety and blend of activities that make our holidays some of the best fun ones around.

We cater for all types of clients. For our horse-riding holidays we can take care of beginners all the way through experts. Our horses are not plodders and have enough spirit to make the rides fun for those who want that. However, they are all impeccably mannered and easy to manage by all levels. All are trained and ridden by Pippa who is 12 years old.
If we have riders present who vary wildly in ability we will occasionally divide them into 2 groups and take the groups out separately.

Riding in the Gurfa valley.
We have four rooms on our site, situated in the beautiful Gurfa valley, but we also work with a number of accomodation providers. If guests are arriving on very late flights (or departing very early) we will often place them in a Palermo B&B to ease the transfers. The B&B we use is situated close to the Politeama theatre, right in the heart of the Palermitan nightlife. .

Standard Riding holidays are a 4-day and a 7-day trip. However we are a small flexible organisation easily tailoring to suit your requirements. The 4-day trip is priced at 525 euros and the 7-day at 890.
We encourage clients to tell us thier variopus other hobbies and sports as we can often provide other activities in line with thier favourite passtimes.

Many (almost all) of our clients have become our friends, staying in touch after their departure and returning for other visits. We enjoy the holidays as much as our clients do and this makes for a fun and friendly atmosphere which is so important on these type of vacations.
