Samambaia Farm was founded in 1741 and is located in an area of fauna and flora. Today Hostel also Samambaia is the only lodging in Petropolis within a colonial monument over 270 years is located where the first chapel in the Vatican ofical region.

Inside the farm visitors and guests are in touch with nature, native to the region and noble species extinction and can enjoy the beautiful gardens designed by Roberto Burle Marx. In addition, famous as Evita Peron, Getulio Vargas, Brigitte Bardot, Assis Chateaubriand were guests of this beautiful place. The rooms remain in their original state.

In Hostel guests also have staff who speak various languages like German, Spanish, French, Italian and English.
We have a room with four bunk beds and bathroom, another room with five bunk beds and a bathroom and the last with four beds, a cot and bathroom.

If you have to cancel your booking, you must do it at least 48hrs before arrival.

This also applies if your booking is during a national holiday, New Year�s eve or Carnival.

Directions

Getting to Petropolis is pretty easy, grab a taxi from Ipanema beach and head to the Rodovaria Novo Rio (pronounced hodo-viara). It cost R$ 35.-- Once in the station, head over to the Facil counter on Platform 6. The bus company Única/Facil operates between Rio de Janeiro and Petropolis. Their buses are new and fairly comfortable. An hour later, you should be in the Rodoviaria Petropolis which is located outside the city. This is a key point, don't leave the bus station, get the local shuttle-bus nr.100 for 3,00 R$, heading to Centro Histórico. Getting from the Rodoviaria Petropolis to the Historical Centre takes about 20 minutes.

If you decide taking the local bus, once at the Historical Centre, you can take buses Nr. 300, 301, 307. The bus stop is
located behind the Museum at the Emperor Square, they all stop at Itamaraty's Terminal and them pass infront of the Hostel.
