The bungalow and two rooms are decorated simple with a creative touch, and built with love by Vladimir and Simone. Vladimir is also an amazing chef. After a day filled with adventure, you can enjoy his gastronomic cuisine with a tropical twist. Jumanji Bungalows is located in Drake Bay on the Peninsula de Osa in Costa Rica.

A remote place which makes a sure adventure getting here!

Location
Jumanji Bungalows is situated just over a km from Drake Bay, on the Osa Peninsula, in south western Costa Rica. There are three ways to come there:
- By airplane from San José, with Sansa Airline (45 minutes);
- By boat from Sierpe, you leave your car in Sierpe on a guarded parking place (75 minutes, $ 20 p.p.);
- Or with a big and strong 4-wheel drive car (3 hours). This is not recommended in the rainy season, because of the bad road and the 7 rivers you have to cross; check your car-insurance conditions. There is no gasstation in Drake Bay!

HOW TO GET TO DRAKE BAY :

Fly straight in from the capital of San Jose (50 minutes)

There are two airlines that fly directly to Drake Bay; Nature Air http://www.natureair.com/leaves from Pavas, a suburb of San Jose, and Sansa http://www.flysansa.com/, which leaves from Juan Santa Maria International airport.
We can arrange airport pick up for you ($10/15p.p.).
The Airstrip of Drake Bay lies in 'Progresso', a small town about a 20 minute adventurous drive from the Bay. Includes river crossings and panoramic views.

By bus from the capital of San Jose (6 hours):
Tracopa buses have very efficient time table, meaning they only stop for a bathroom brake and a quick bite to eat.
Around $10, a great economical way of traveling to the Peninsula de Osa.
Leaving from Plaza Viques there are two routes. Through 'Cerro de la Muerte', leaving at 05:30 in the morning or the coastal route 'la Costanera', leaving at 07:30 in the morning. The earliest bus will connect you to the early/mid-day boat.
Get off in Palmar Norte.
Here we can arrange a taxi upon arrival to take you to Sierpe where you can take the boat. Costs $16
There is a bus going to Sierpe, however be aware this bus may take too long for you to make your boat, as it stops numerous times.

By boat from Sierpe

The boat takes little over an hour, and travels through Central Americas largest Mangrove Forest, before you enter the realm of the ocean and cross over to the Bay. There are two departure times. Plenty boats leave Sierpe at 11:30 and cost $15p.p., and only one leaves in the afternoon at 3:30, $20p.p.. The afternoon boat has a different captain every day as they take turns
Boats leave from the dock of Restaurant 'Las Vegas'.
Sierpe is a very small town with a handful of restaurants, a pharmacy, supermarket, busstop. No banks or ATM's though.
Las Vegas also offers guarded parking to safely park your car for $6/day.
Get ready for a beach landing! There is no dock in Drake Bay so you'll get your feet wet!
We can reserve a spot for you on the boat and arrange transport to Jumanji Lodge.

By shuttle from Manuel Antonio/Dominical/Uvita

The public bus service from Manuel Antonio to Palmar Norte is a very bad connection, it takes a long time. This is why most people travel by minibus.
Driver Alex will pick you up around 07:30 at your hotel in Manuel Antonio or Quepos ($30)/08:15 Dominical ($27)/08:30 Uvita ($20)
This takes yo directly to Sierpe from where you can take the boat to Drake Bay at 11:30 arriving on our shore here in Drake at 12:30/13:00 'o clock.

Public Bus Service Puntarenas - Jaco- Quepos

To get to Quepos from Puntarenas or Jaco there is a public busservice (Puntarenas - Quepos) 5:00, 7:00, 9:00, 11:00, 13:00, 14:30, 16:30 and 17:30 which leaves from Puntarenas and passes by Jaco an hour and a half later so 6:30, 8:30 and so on.

Driving down by Car
Adventure seekers with off-road experience can make it over by car. You absolutely need four-wheel-drive. Costarican roads are not always in good shape. The road from Chaqarita to Drake Bay (75km.) is one with many holes, climbing and descending steep mountains, with small bridges and rivers to cross. We recommend venturing out this way only during the dry season. Dependent on the amount of rain rivers rise quickly and become a chocolate colored danger with often tedious/long waits for water levels to drop with little civilization around. Be warned! However Jumanji Bungalows is reachable by car. In dry season experienced drivers(!) taking your time with plenty of water on board, enjoying amazing views crossing the Peninsula this way! You are sure to realize where you are/how remote you are.
InterAmericana intersection Chaqarita, This will be the last gas station you'll encounter so fill up!
Drive onward for about 35km.
Before the bridge of Rincon turn right.
Follow this road for about 35km
