Hostal Las Rosas, San Bernadino, Paraguay.

This Hostal lies in a quiet place in San Bernadino far away from the noise of the main street but not far away from the centre with all its nice cafes and the lake with its beach. It is located under Mango and shadow trees in the middle of nature in one of the nicest parts of Paraguay.

It has got a nice blue swimming pool, tennis court, volleyball court, basketball court, games for children and a special pool for children. It has got several shade houses (quinchos) to sit and lie in a hammock. The price of 90.000 Gs (actually 17 - 19 Euros) includes a big breakfast (fruit, cheese, ham, muesli, cereals, egg, butter and jam and good full wheat or rye bread, coffee, tea, hot or cold chocolate).

Meals are normally wheat free, (apt for celiacos)
You can have meals from the tatakua oven: Chicken, fish, pizzas, sopas paraguayas, There is a cafe with small meals and a daily meal every lunch and dinner (supper) for the amount of only 6 Euros (30.000 Gs).

There is a main house with 3 bedrooms and one modern bath (6 - 7 beds), a double bedroom with a private bath.

The second house is a small house with two bedrooms for 2 to 4 persons, (2 additional bunk beds can be put in) and a modern bathroom. The house is totally renewed and very clean. Beds are European, with thick mattresses, antiallergic cushions and covers. Ceiling fan and mosquito nets are in the rooms.
There is a small outdoor kitchen for your own use with a fridge and an electric stove. Beverages and small meals can be bought in the cafe of the hostel. Main meals are on request. As the two houses are in the shadow they are both very cool. Air conditioning on request as we have got mobile air conditioning.

We simply ask you not to smoke inside the rooms. Outside is no problem and as it is warm here. Most of the time you will not freeze when smoking outside. Big ashtrays are provided.

Attention: Rains are very heavy here: You might swim away... For Plop-up-Tents: There is space under roofs.

How to find us:

By plane: You go to Asuncion (Asu) by plane. The easiest way to get to us is that we get you there (250.000 Gs.)(50 Eur). Or you take a bus or a taxi (appr. 90.000 Gs)(15 Eur) to the bus terminal.

By bus: There are a lot of long distance buses from all over South America that go to Asuncion. You can travel the continent quite cheaply. Just pay attention on the time changes from one country to the next otherwise your bus might be gone. Argentina for example is one hour ahead, Chile again has got the same time as Paraguay. We can also get you from the bus terminal (250.000 Gs) (50 Euros). If you wish to continue by bus:

Once you arrive in the bus terminal of Asuncion, you buy a ticket in the office of Loma Grande Bus or Altos (Cordillera de los Altos) bus company to Mbocaya (appr. 5000 Gs) near San Bernadino. Ask for the Doble Avenida Mbocaya between the Cafe Alemana 2 and Hotel Los Alpes. Get off the bus there and take the double avenue (a stone and grass covered street) until you come to a huge waste paper basket in the middle of the street (1000 m). (On the left side you see Villa del Sol). Next street you turn left and immediately right. It is the third house in this road on the left hand. Small signs show you the way. If you wish we can get you at the bus stop.
