Arriving by taxi
There are taxi ranks at Terminal 4 arrivals section.
The approximate cost from the airport of Barajas and the Puerta del Sol is about 20 euros + 4,5 euros charged by the airport.
The carriage of luggage and pets (in the approved transportation) is always free.
It is advisable not to strangers who may offer their services inside the airport. The taxi fare is always indicated by the meter itself.
The journey between the airport and the center can vary between 20 and 40 minutes depending on traffic and time of day.
The taxi is more convenient transportation option between the airport and downtown. Especially if you have baggage, if you do not know how to reach your destination.
Getting to Metro
Barajas Airport is served by metro (line 8) in Madrid two seasons: one in the T2 (Metro Airport T1-T2-T3) and T4 (T4 Metro Airport).
Transportation in Metro de Madrid is comfortable, fast (about 40 minutes from the Puerta del Sol), economic and efficient. It is not advisable to use this type of transport, if you travel with lots of luggage.
Note that it is common to find groups of pickpockets operating within the walls of Madrid. Please, therefore caution if traveling in a particular group (the preference of the pickpockets are often large Spanish-speaking groups are not distracted from it) and always avoid bringing backpacks on their back pockets or easy access.
The cost of a subway ticket is only 1 i , 7 i the 10-trip pass for travel. Remember to pay a charge for entry and exit of the station at the airport (T1, T2, T3 and T4). The amount of the fee is i 1.
