Hotel Diar El Barbar is a four star hotel, the only one in the region of Gabes, located in Matmata, Troglodyte famous tourist city and crossroad of the great roads of southern Tunisia. Its unique architecture (reconstructed cave hotel) makes it one of the most famous hotels in Tunisia.

A daily bus service runs to Tunis (450 km) via Sfax and Sousse.

By car - Matmata lies about 45min inland (south-west) from Gabes on a sealed road. Douz lies about 1hr 30min to the west. .
