A beautiful house, relaxing stay

What a fantastic old house Foxghyll is! Steeped in history and in a wonderful location, one's first impressions are of dissappointment that it is a guest house; not, in the strictest sense, a family home. However, the owner and her son soon eliviate such thoughts with a quiet mannered welcome and a helpfulness (especially from the charming and astute Paul) that will remind you common courtesy still exists! The room was utterly breathtaking and I admired the clear effort made NOT to modernise such historic but beautifully maintained rooms. The breakfast was exceptional and portion generous. Indeed, extra requests did not fall upon deaf ears! I needed internet access for business reasons - no problem. Arrived late? Immediately offered foods that, suprisingly, were NOT added to my bill as dreaded 'sundries' upon leaving. Wonderful value for money, a hidden gem in the Lakes. I will definitely be staying again.
