The Sir Stamford on historic Maquarie Street is well located within easy walking distance of the Opera House, the Circular Quay, the Rocks, Parks, Museums and many and varied restaurants. The staff were incredibly friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. There were umbrellas for our use. The staff even helped us secure tickets to a visiting Picasso exhibit. The hotel staff was there for us from start to finish. What a great way to start our Australian vacation.

Great Hotel, Great Location, Reasonable Price! Would definitely stay again.

We were 4 couples staying 2 days prior to boarding our Cruise ship. Everyone was very pleased with the accomodations. We were very happy with the location, close proximity to everything. The Botanic Garden is across the street, we walked to Sydney Opera House, the docks for the ferry and even our Cruise ship. Restaurants and shopping were all close by. We enjoyed the breakfast and the quaint bar also.

I chose the hotel mostly based on location, price, and travelers' reviews. The hotel is charming in an old world kind of way. Things are not new, splashy, or trendy. However, my room was huge and including a lovely seating area with a tea tray/service as well as a nicely lit desk area. The bathroom was luxurious. I had some trouble with the internet but was quickly helped by their IT service. The concierge staff was friendly and helpful. I arrived late and the young man set me up with a great dinner at a nearby restaurant and followed the progress of my visit over the next two days. As a woman traveling alone far from home, I felt well cared for, comfortable, safe, and perfectly located to enjoy my first -- and hopefully not last -- visit to Sydney. I would be happy to stay here again.
