the staff is friendly and hard working. There isn't much they can do when the owner won't improve the property. I would guess the thinking is when you have a flood of tourists and few choices for motels room, you take what you get. When we got there, the room given us was completely torn up. The bed and mattress leaned against different walls. The staff cleared that up and we were given a different room but we were warned about the small lizards that like to come into the room at night. Really, small lizards!!!! The room had an odor that was something close to moldy and damp. The floor slanted due to a poor expansion project and the addition didn't match with the existing room. The air conditioner was in a small room off the bathroom and not in the area where the beds were. I was glad it was cool at night because this really had a negative effect on how well it worked. When it got dark I could see how the small lizards could get into the room by all the light coming into the room around the side and bottom of the door. That was fixed by packing towels into the gaps. The only good thing I could say is there is a nice Mexican joint next to the motel that delivered!!!
My wife just read this review over my shoulder and commented that "that about covers it".

No complaints at all. I would stay at this best western again.
The staff at the downtown Best Western even directed me here after realizing we were at the wrong location. Very helpful.

The hotel was nicer than the photos online showed which was great. The parking lot was very large and made it easy to get a spot near where our room was located. The rooms were clean, updated and pleasant. And the beds were comfortable. I had read in other reviews that a lot of the hotels had traffic noise; however, we didn't have any issues with noise.
The disadvantage to the hotel is that you have to drive into town to go any restaurants other than the one next door. The place next door has great food but lacks in atmosphere and is expensive.
We would stay there again if we went to Durango -- overall it was a good hotel.

This is a nice place to stay. Has outside enterances so you can pull right up to your room and unload your stuff without having to drag it miles. The rooms are bit small so we moved to a suite and these are perfect for families. We could put our kids to bed and still watch TV and visit. The views from the back are great. The people here will do anything for you and are really friendly. It is also very clean. We have stayed in the summer and the winter and it is expensive in the summer. We compared all others and this was the best value.
