I had to be in Topeka for a few weeks on business and on a chance i blindly picked BW Topeka. Turns out the manager was helpful with dinner suggestions, traffic directions, things to do and places to visit. The hotel is very clean and the swim area has a nice Jacuzzi. Its a small hotel but very comfortable and I would recommend to anyone. Not a high end BW but staying there for a few weeks, I felt good about my stay!!!!

The company we were with was sending us out to Topeka for the weekend and booked our rooms here. The location is great and the hotel accommodations are nice but the service was terrible. Since my group arrived at this particular Best Western a "regular" started to make complaints. They started at about 4pm and continued for the next 12 hours causing a severe hassle for our group.
I felt greatly discriminated against and not knowing why. Perhaps because of our attire not being completely "normal." The "regular" from a different floor followed members of our group around the halls and back to their rooms to see where they were staying. This made the girls in our party highly uncomfortable. Many of them called and made complaints to the front desk but nothing came of it since he would still walk around outside our doors. He continued to call and complain about our group with many many unfounded claims such as jumping, noise and smoke. All of our rooms were non smoking and the members of our group that did smoke when outside to smoke. Even after everyone in our group had gone to sleep the front desk called all of our rooms saying that they were going to kick us out if we continued to be noisy.
As we turned in our room keys in the morning, we were once again harassed by the assistant manager about disruptive and told we were being fined $250. This assistant manager had a horrible attitude and was extremely rude to everyone in our group. We were then charged $250 for "damages" though nothing was damaged (our rooms had already been inspected) The owner & assistant manager had already charged the company who payed for our rooms, credit card $250 and were very forceful in trying to make me sign papers, even though it was not my credit card. I was then threatened by the owner that if I did not sign for the $250 that were charged, he would double the fine AND call the police. Since this is not legal in any sort of way, I waited for the police and spoke with them about the issue. Still, we ended up paying the $250 so it would not be charged to the business who payed for our hotel rooms credit card and figured a poor review would be easier than taking them to small claims court. We are complaining to corporate tomorrow but I doubt much will be done since Best Westerns are individually owned.

I did not see the hotel sign when I exited the freeway (Not their fault) so went a few blocks looking for the hotel. When I called their local number to ask for directions, this was @ 6:00 PM, it just rang and rang. We backtracked and found the hotel.
When we reached the room, it was quite stuffy and warm even though it had only been in the mid 70's that day. I set the thermostat to 72º and hit "cool". Even on "LOW" it blew so hard and right on the bed that it was uncomfortable BUT, it was 6 hours later that the room finally cooled off enough to be bearable.
The Continental breakfast was very good! Best we had had on the whole 14 day trip.

A good deal for the money. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Staff was very friendly and eager to help make our stay as good as possible. The pool was very warm, unfortunately the hot tub was very cold and not working properly. The continental breakfast was good, but there could have been a few more options. Unfortunately a group with no manners took all the donuts for their own table and then threw many of them away and there were no replacements. A good time overall, though. We'll be back.

The room was very clean & the bed & pillows were comfortable. It was 106 degrees that day & the air conditioner worked well. The continental breakfast was not good. The waffle iron was dirty & there was very little to choose from. The juice machine did not work. Overall, I think it was a good value for the price.
