I am normally not very picky, and am perfectly happy in a Motel 6 so I thought this place would be fine. Cheap doesn't have to mean unkempt. This hotel smells like cigarette smoke and the carpets are dirty and old. There are no towel bars in the bathroom and no light in the shower. The bed spread looked about 20 years old. The pillows were lumpy. I stayed for a week and I think there was fresh fruit (apples) one morning for breakfast, otherwise it was just a carbohydrate fest. I called ahead and asked it there were hair dryers in the rooms and was told there was, but when I arrived there wasn't one in the room. I had to go ask for a hair dryer. The guy at the desk had to go look in house keeping and mumbled something about "there might not be one..." He found one, but I was pretty sure that if there hadn't been one I would have been out of luck and searching for a 24 hour pharmacy to buy one - since it was about 10pm and I had a business meeting the next morning.
The hotel also had signs posted all over the hotel for a Shutterfly book promotion. When I inquired at the desk the guy shrugged his shoulders and said, "sorry I don't know anything about it, they haven't told us what to do yet." This was irritating since I'd seen this promotion during the entire week I was there and I like using Shutterfly and would have taken advantage of the deal. You would think if they are going to bother to post the signs they would at least inform the employees on what to do if someone asks about it.

I was looking for a hotel outside of the downtown area that provided easy acces to the Columbia River Scenic Byway and this hotel worked out splendidly! Â The room was clean every day, the staff was extremely helpful, and a refrigerator was in the room for us to store a few snack items for our trips around the area. Â The price was a great deal, especially if you are in need of a place to sleep after a long day of adventure activities. Â I recommend renting a car so that you can access this hotel, the downtown area, and scenic adventures easily. Â There are also plenty of great places to eat within walking/driving distance and Walmart is across the street!

Overall, the hotel is very average. The rooms are adequate and mostly clean. Not the worst place I've stayed. The breakfast has waffles, toast, juice, and the usual. There is a pizza place connected to the building. The cat is no longer there. The location is great! It's right off the interstate and easy to find. There's a Wal-Mart right across the street. The Historic Columbia River Highway starts a block away. Just leave the hotel and go over the interstate and take your first left and drive until you at least reach Multnomah Falls. It's so beautiful that you have to do it. It's easy to get to Mt. Hood from here and it's only about a half an hour from downtown Portland. I would stay here again.

This hotel left a lot to be desired. When we arrived the front desk staff had to finish their conversation before they even acknowledged us. As I filled out paper work I had to contend with one of the many resident cats for counter space, as it was sleeping on the counter. If you are allergic to cats, this is not the place for you! The room was small and dingy. The mattress looked and felt like an old boy scout model from 1950. The walls were fairly thin, and we could easily distinguish the argument between out neighbors well into the night. The hotel was generally smoky, and thus not appropriate for those of us with lung conditions. Breakfast was pretty standard, waffles, cereal, toast and such. No complaints there.
Over all, this is an ok hotel if you just need a place to flop, much like a hostel, but it left much to be desired in the way of cleanliness and comfort.
