My husband got called out for work and so we drove to Virginia from Texas. When we got there the staff was incredibly rude and wouldn't do anything we asked. We have two teen daughters and they would only give us a room with one bed so we rented another room. They put our daughters on the back side of the hotel and on a different floor. They also gave my husband a smoking room after telling him on the phone it would be non-smoking. Finally got them to move his room and it smelled a little better. It had no electricity in half of the room so the lights and clock didn't work. It was dark, stained and smelled horrible. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. It is NOT worth the price to stay there! The staff is rude and it is disgusting!!!

I have stayed there twice and am going to return because of the price. The hotel is cheap and in a great location because it is near a trail along the river. There is a creek running through two sections of the hotel and one uses a cute bridge to get to the other side. The staff was very nice and accomadating. Breakfast is good. However, you must refuse to stay in a room in the back of the hotel as it is in bad shape. There were big stains on the carpet and it's a bit old and shabby. I had to ask for another room. Needs an upgrade badly. Because of the above issues, I would check before using the pool. There was a motorcycle group staying there when I was there but with no trouble with partying.

We checked into the hotel late in evening. If it were earler, we would have checked out and gone somewhere else. The outside of the buildings have lots of "deferred maintenance issues". The room I stayed in was worse than what you would expect at a cheap "no-name" roadside motel off the beaten path. The bedspreads had stains on them, the light switches are loose, pulled away from the wall and "black" with dirt and grime. I sat on the edge of the bed to take off my shoes and the entire bed flipped up into the air! The room looks like it has not updated in 20 years. Mattresses were old and lumpy. Couldn't wait to get out of there in the morning. For the money I recommend you find something else.

This hotel is decent. Nothing special. Clean but somewhat dated. The breakfast was ok, again nothing special. I didn't like how there were construction workers in the parking lot partying all evening and most of the night. It was a little sketchy. Overall it's just not worth what the charge you to stay.

The best thing about this hotel is that it is situated in a near perfect spot. Not so much in the neighborhood in which it is found (which is pretty bad), but in that it is close to a LOT of Roanoke and the surrounding area's tourist attractions. From this hotel it is just a short drive to the downtown shopping area, up to Mill Mountain, and to a good number of other sights of interest.
The hotel itself is unfortunately not very good. Driving up to it, one might think that they are driving into a ghetto. This impression is confirmed when one gets to the hotel and sees the groups of people roaming around with apparently no reason for being there. These people get louder, and more intoxicated, as the night goes on.
The rooms are not very clean, though it seems the hotel staff makes an effort to have clean sheets on the beds. The stink bugs, though not the fault of the hotel, are enough to drive a person mad. The floors and walls are dingy, and the shower and sink areas seem to need a cleaning prior to being used.
Oh, and if one worries as I do about their car being messed with, the parking lots are right outside of the rooms, so that you can see the people in the parking lot checking out your car by just stepping out onto the balcony.
The staff does go out of its way to fulfill any requests that their guests have. They seem to know, though, that there is only so much that they can do with the current state of this hotel, so going out of their way won't get you much.
Their breakfast buffet is not bad, as long as you dont expect much more than the average "continental breakfast" experience. You can eat as much as you want, as long as you do so before the end of breakfast - they are sticklers about the end of breakfast, and the food and drink disappear quickly after that.
The fitness room is flimsy, with only one treadmill and one bike, but there is a TV in the room so that one can almost forget that they are running in an 8 by 12 cubicle.
Overall, this hotel is shabby and dated. The staff is really good, but that doesn't make up for the fact that it is simply a bad hotel, which shouldn't have the name Ramada on it.
