We were in town for a wedding, and there were not many hotels available in the area, probably due to the state fair, governor's conference, EAA, etc. We paid more than we would have liked, just so we didn't have to drive back home after the wedding. By paying more, we were hoping for more. You could tell there were recent updates, fresh paint, new carpeting smell, modern restaurant/bar area. However, the doorknob on the bathroom door wasn't installed properly and was loose. The shelves in the bathroom barely supported the supplied towels, soap, shampoo, etc. We did not feel comfortable in the rickety elevators, but could not find the stairs.

Our water view was of apartments across the street and the hint of water above the tree tops a mile away.  The room was run down; the closet was off the tracks and broken; the ceiling tiles in the hallways were falling out; the elevator was scary, and the shower curtain had not been cleaned so there was a horrible mildew smell in the bathroom.  The rooftop patio consisted of torn vinyl furniture, cigarette butts, and the elevator would not work to gain access so you had to take the stairs.  However, the location in terms of access to the museum, the lake views, and events in the park was superb!  Luckily for us, we were not in the room often.

The rooftop patio overlooks Lake Michigan...doesn't get much better than that. The location was absolutely perfect - we were able to walk down to the lake, the art museum, and around the cute neighborhood surrounding the hotel. Continental breakfast was good with hot sausage and eggs and the rest. Free internet in the computer room with a printer to use for checking into our flight and printing boarding passes. Our room was fine - not amazing, and the walls were paper thin so we got to hear the bachelor party returning from their night on the town at 2:30am. I didn't sleep great any of the nights we stayed there, but the other two nights were quieter. Overall a nice place, I'd stay there again.

Heater/air conditioner was NOISEY. So noisey that the tv could not be heard without really hiking up the volume. On top of that --- it didn't produce any heat. (Yeah it is was in the 30's for the low.) Bathroom was old fashion. No place for normal travel items for man and wife. Then, there was a large space that was surely occupied at one time by an easy chair. Not now, just an empty space.

This hotel was not up to cleaning standards I ask for a fridge and microwave to be brought up to my room and there was mold in the fridge and the microwave was dirty. I had a double bed room and it was very small. The only thing that was ok about this hotel was the complementary breakfast that was served in the morning, and that needed to be watched. I would not stay here again!
