I wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived at the hotel, which is operated under the Econolodge brand. Given that this room was less than half of almost all other rooms in the city, I didn't set my hopes too high. In truth, though, the room was clean, the front desk staff friendly and courteous, and the property overall well-kept. The hotel does show it's age in the furnishings and fixtures; however, it was a great place to stay the night for the price. I have no reservations about recommending this hotel to anyone looking for a clean, cheap room in Evanston. I only needed a no-frills room and this one fit the bill very nicely. The hotel does offer a free continental breakfast; however, I can't comment on it as the event I was attending provided breakfast so I didn't partake of what the hotel offered. It has free Internet and cable TV. I didn't notice any restaurants close to the hotel; however, it is only a couple of blocks from the main street area of town and the restaurants and other attractions in the area.

I reserved a queen non-smoking room, however, when we went to our room it had a smoking room sign on the door, ashtrays and smelled of smoke. The clerk switched us to a new room and we just dropped our stuff off and went out. When we returned I went into the bathroom and found about an inch of water on the floor and water dripping from the ceiling. Apparently there was work being done on the upstairs bathroom and it leaked water into our bathroom. So, at 2:30 in the morning we were switching rooms yet again. The hotel was not overly clean and in some disrepair. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless there was no place else.

The proprietor of this hotel was so nice. We got there quite late, but he was very prompt about answering the bell. The room was very clean. The bathroom had the proper amount of towels. Bed linen was clean and the equipment all worked. The free breakfast had plenty of variety. I would stay again!
