We visit Rome often for weekend visits with realtives and to attend the minor league baseball games there. We always stay at the Hawthorne Suites downtown. The building is a converted factory or warehouse that dates back some 100 years. The owners have done a splendid job of coverting this property and the staff is efficient and friendly. The rooms are huge, clean and many offer views of the river. The hotel also provides a hearty breakfast that is inlcuded in the price. It is a very short walk to downtown Main street to enjoy an amble supply of restaurants and taverns. I suggest you check out Johnny's Pizza on Friday nights for a fun crowd and very reasonable prices. There isn't much to do in Rome, but the Hawthorne Suites makes up for a limited social venue and is close to what is available.

Parked the car when I arived and didn't need it again. This historic building that was converted to the Hawthorn is within walking distance to great food, great entertainment, and historic sites. The Hotel itself was wonderful. Staff was great and the room was wonderfull.

This hotel was beautifully decorated, the rooms were spotless, the breakfast was delicious with an excellent variety of foods. We really loved our suite, with one bed up a small flight of stairs, and the other bed on the main floor. Our only complaint was that, situated as it was in downtown Rome, there was a lot of traffic noise throughout the night. Otherwise, it was terrific!

I stayed here for several days on business. When I booked this hotel, I saw there was a hotel restaurant (which I appreciate since I'm lazy). First, it was hard to find. The address listed is NOT the one that either Google or my GPS wanted to find. Keep in mind that you may need to call them for directions, leave extra time in case you have trouble finding it. Second, there was no hotel restaurant, it was closed down. "No problem," the nice hotel staff said, "there are a lot of restaurants in historic downtown Rome." However, most appeared closed on Monday night, and it was somewhat deserted, making me feel conspicuous and a bit nervous. However, the hotel itself was cute - a restored old building. My room had brick walls, and the floors creaked when I walked, letting you know there were wooden planks under the carpet. Room was clean, and the bed was comfy. I had no problems with anything.
