I hesitate to ever give a "bad" review but I feel like I had to this time. We checked in at 9:30 at night after dropping our son off at college. Check in went fairly quick with no issue, they offered us free drink tickets for the lounge but we declined due to just wanting to get settled and get to sleep. Our friends checked in after us and tried to use their drink tickets but were ignored at the bar by both bartenders when they saw they had suitcases and free drink tickets. They ended up giving up and went to their room. Why offer the tickets if the lounge doesnt honor them? We headed to our room to find that it was the very last room at the end of the hall on the second floor-right next to the ice maker- and I mean RIGHT next to it. I would have asked for another room but had overheard the clerk telling the person in front of us that they had gotten the last room available. The room was shabby- we paid for the "executive" room but there was really nothing executive about it. The bed was hard as a rock, the mattress old and tired, the remote didnt work there was a slight musty smell and both my husband I were scalded in the shower in the morning. Turned the water to cold and still had scorching hot water pouring out! Someone thought it was good ambiance to play music in the hallway all night long, nice? Not if you are right next to the speaker, we thought the guest next door had left their TV on all night but it was actually the hallway music. It was way too loud and not "soothing" at all. We got up in the morning, realized we forgot toothpaste, went downstair to ask for some and had to wake up the clerk that was sleeping with her head on the desk to ask for some. This was at 7:00 in the morning, not early in most travelers opinions. She then told us they didnt have any toothpaste but that we could buy it out of the machine upstairs for $2. Seriously? I stay at alot of hotels for business and I have never had to buy a tube of toothpaste if I forgot it. The really bad part of this is that I recommended this hotel to our friends and I felt terrible in the morning when we all met up for breakfast. They were equally as disappointed as us and we all agree that we will never stay in this hotel again and will advise against it to anyone who asks. Not good.

I want to thank the staff at Guesthouse for a wonderful weekend. The room was clean and fresh and we had a nice veiw of the river. The kids couldn't wait to make waffles each morning and are still talking about it. Thank you all again!!!
