Our family (2 adults, 2 small kids) had a truly delightful vacation at Pelican Resort...Impeccable pools, wonderful room with clean kitchen (for snacks and drinks mainly, we also had our breakfast in room daily to save some $), comfortable bed....Fabulous private beach with someone scurrying to put out umbrella and chairs for you the minute they see you coming...never had to fight for a space at either the beach or pools no matter what time of day. Really good restaurants and within walking distance of several more. Very convenient to the airport and to the French side of the island. Will definitely stay here again- hopefully soon!!!

  • MAY 2010 VACATIONER TO PELICAN RESORT IN ST. MAARTIN

I'm just so happy with my stay at the Pelican Resort in St. Maartin that I have to write my "Star Rating" IMMEDIATELY. 5 out of 5, or 10 out of 10, or 100 out of 100. Basically, whatever scale you use, it max's it out!. I was not prepared for what I experienced from the INSTANT I walked into the lobby on May 1, 2010. Countless worker bees offering assistance, a nice cold bottled water, fast & friendly check-in. They even introduce you to your personal concierge; someone who will ensure you are problem free and get the most out of your stay at Pelican Resort. The BEAUTY of the lobby, combined with the VIEW out the ENORMOUS windows overlooking Simpson Bay was just incredible! Again, not being the highest rated or anywhere near as expensive as other hotels that came up on my searches, I was not prepared for the luxury I experienced as I opened the door to my hotel room. They could have used the space to make TWO hotel rooms as it was THAT BIG! Plenty of businesses on the property (casino, eateries, shopping). Truthfully, it took me 10 minutes of driving around the property, and asking directions TWICE before I found my way off of the resort. PLENTY more businesses CLOSE, including one of the largest grocery stores on the island to stock the kitchen. I had nothing but FUN FUN FUN for eight days on the island putting several hundred miles on my rental car. Less than a week after returning home, Pelican Resort called to make sure I enjoyed my stay. Apparently they didn't see the perpetual ear-to ear grin on my face for all the days I was there! I'll be back! jim

The Pelican was a beautiful resort with many swimming pools and helpful people. Maid service in the room was perfect. The maid even washed our dishes, dried them and put them back in the cupboard for us every day. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. There was a car rental rep in the lobby to take care of our rental needs. Booking excursions was easy and close by. There were many good restaurants within walking distance. It was a great place to stay.

The Pelican Resort was absolutely beautiful; registration efficient and quick; the room spacious and clean. We could walk out our door to Pool B where the bar served great hot dogs and hamburgers grilled right there and terrific guavaberry coladas. The bartender was exceptionally nice. We enjoyed socializing with him. Most of the people staying at the Pelican were exceedingly friendly. They would stop by to chat while we were sitting on our patio. We enjoyed driving around the island, going from the Dutch side to the French side, shopping, eating, sightseeing. The French Market was fun as was the vendors at Philipsburg; however, many of the same products may be purchased at a store named Rima's in Philipsburg for about half what the vendors ask. In fact, I believe the vendors purchase their wares from Rima's because some of them have the Rima tag in them. The vendors are fun, though, and more helpful, and so the extra money was worth it. Captain Oliver's on the east border is a great place to eat. When we stopped to make our reservation for the Saturday night buffet, we tried its escargot. It was the best of the three places we had escargot on the island. While the all-you-can-eat lobster feature of the buffet was enticing, the other food was exceptionally good. My family and I highly recommend Captain Oliver's. Pineapple Pete's close to the Pelican is another good place to eat, although the escargot does not compare to the Captain's. Sunset Beach Bar and Grill at Maho Beach is a must -- good food, good drinks, and good photo opportunities of the planes flying low over the beach to land. If we did not go to a different island each trip, we would return to the Pelican and St. Maarten.

I also stayed at this resort in October of 2008 and I LOVED IT!! Our room was beautiful, the staff was top notch!! I would stay here again in a heart beat, in fact I was just online to check into the air fair to go back. We were in a Saturday to Saturday deal and our plane didn't leave until Sunday we stayed the extra night at a HIGH DOLLAR resort (DIVI) the staff was rude - the rooms weren't ready - instead of being honest about it the front desk staff was serving alcoholic drinks so the Pissed Off guests would forget how mad they were until a few got so drunk they started harassing the staff - what a sight!! I have nothing but good things to say about this resort and the entire island. 5 out of 5 stars for everything!!
