This is the third time that we have stayed here and we enjoy this hotel. It is very clean and welcoming. The rooms are big and comfortable. It is very centrally located in downtown and it is easy to get to. The only downside is the restaurant. Although breakfasts are good, the dinners are not so much. The service is okay, but the food is just mediocre.
Highly recommend all around, including the nicest of staff!

We arrived late on a Friday, and spent Saturday in Newport and Sunday in Providence. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were outstanding, from the maid to the front desk staff. We received excellent tips on where to eat within walking distance, where to go. There's a very friendly atmosphere. Being summer, when you walk in you're greeted with a large urn of cold water flavored with lemons and oranges - very refreshing and welcoming. They also had cookies out several times with "eat me!" signs - they tasted like homemade. We had breakfast twice in the restaurant (vouchers) and it was tasty. (We needed every bit of our $30 vouchers and then some to cover the two of us.) All around, we give the hotel 5 stars and wish that whoever is leading the staff would come to our workplace!

From the moment we stepped into the elegant lobby, our experience at the Hotel Providence was magical. The room was crisp and lovely. Our room overlooked a tall-spired church -- the hourly bell, happily for us, silenced before we returned from dinner. The bed was of perfect firmness and the bedding pristine. We woke to a delicious room service breakfast -- a tiny extravagance. And the staff graciously stowed our baggage after checkout while we spent the afternoon browsing in shops, visiting the RISD Museum and dining at another terrific Providence restaurant.
