“All you could want, from a family run hotel”

We booked 4 nights and added another 3 so enjoyable was our stay. Diep from Posh (formerly Jasmine 2) went out of her way to make sure we had a great stay. Staff informed us of scams to be aware of , how much to expect to pay, what taxi's to trust and had good local knowledge to pass on to us, which all added to a hassle free holiday. We booked our tours to Sapa and Ha long Bay through the hotel and were not dissapointed. We researched other companies specialising in tours, but Diep's helpfulness, honesty and "no enjoy, no pay" gurarantee sealed the deal, along with their helpfulness prior to us asking about tour's. We knew exactly what was included in the price and the whole experiece being the highligt of our three weeks traveling Vietnam South to North. Hotel staff (family) accompanied us to the train bound for Sapa and picked us up on return at 5am, giving us a room for resting at the hotel for a few hours on arriving back prior to our Halong Bay tour (at no cost). Our only out of pocket costs on the tours we were told would be drinks and Diep was true to her word.
Located in the old quarter, Hanoi Posh is within walking distance to the Lake and night market, and only a $2.50 taxi to other attractions, a truely great hotel for around $60-$70 a night for a better room.
Breakfast was adequet with an array of fresh fruits and menue to order from in which I did not go past their omlet. Going on price, location, and the bonus of the friendliness of a family run hotel, this certainly was a winner for us. A safe location and a hotel I would definitely be happy to return to.
Posh Hotel Hanoi - Great Choice!

I am always prepared to up stumps and relocate to a new hotel if I am not happy with the standard of a place I choose to stay in South East Asian countries because there is usually a wide range of accommodation options available in most places.
But next time I return to Hanoi in October I will be making a bee-line straight back to The Posh!
The original reason I chose the Posh was validated the moment their driver, after meeting me at the airport, helped me with my luggage out of the car and towards to foyer of the hotel. This place is slap bang in the middle of the fascinating colour, movement and humanity that is the Old Quarter of Hanoi. Every time I come to this part of the city, no matter how jet-lagged or worn out I feel, I am instantly recharged and eager to explore the nooks and crannies of the labyrinthine centre of Old Hanoi. So this hotel ticks all the boxes as the best location for me in the city!
Value for money? This is usually my next criteria to consider. I don’t mind paying extra for some of the luxuries that come with a 4 star, or more, hotel but I am not a fool (maybe my wife would disagree with this last statement!). The Posh Hotel had all I needed for a very comfortable stay at a price I consider to be an absolute bargain!
Why spend more? I paid $25 per night for a large, well appointed and spotless room with all the extras you expect and require when on the road these days. I would go as far to say that when the extras are added to the exemplary service I received from the staff at the Posh, I considered it very quickly to be a home away from home. I don’t use the expression lightly and have stayed in many hotels where I have been treated like a cash cow with bloated teats.
At the Posh it is very different! It was the many little extras that are provided at no extra cost that really appealed to me. The Posh service is understated but so effective. These people are, like most Vietnamese I have encountered in my travels, so genuinely polite and caring and go out of their way to help the weary or culture-shocked traveller adapt. For a travel-hardened and sceptical traveller it can take some time to lower your guard and accept the management and staff at this hotel for what they are-genuine and generous hosts. River, Spring ( true- that’s really their names!) and Simon who run the hotel could not do enough for me and helped me out of one particularly tight spot I encountered with a visa problem. They also organised my forward trip into China with a minimum of fuss and a considerable saving on the best price I was able to find myself over the internet.
I could go on about the Posh but time and space prevent me, however I must make particular mention of the kitchen staff. I ate all my breakfasts at the hotel (not my normal practice in the option-rich Hanoi). The breakfasts, whether I chose the Vietnamese option or Western style, were abundant, healthy and freshly prepared- a great way to start the day before hitting the fascinating streets surrounding the hotel.
So for me- The Posh is now my number one choice and first port of call when I next visit this wonderful city!

The location is excellent - in the Old Quarter and right next to Hoan Kiem Lake. The rooms are lovely - big, nicely done and very clean.Fantastic staff, very helpful.
I think this place will make the next Lonely Planey guide. It is extremely popular already through word of mouth alone - so book in advance to avoid dispointment. They have a web site, so look for it on the net.
Excellent value for money.
