This brief stay reminded me of the winter-time fun one can have at a ski resort area. As a summer/spring hub of activity for the Sun Valley area in Idaho, this is a pleasant hotel and worth the visit. I felt embraced by the hotel and its staff, and I welcomed the environment of the grounds and the woodsiness/old style charm of the hotel itself. The restaurant is comfortable and calm, with decent food and menu. I felt nostalgic for the pleasant evening I had some twenty years ago when attending a skating event/show here, and the place hasn't really changed.

Overall, the staff was very attentive though we never received the extra roll of TP we asked for. The room was beautiful with an old world feel. The village was closed for the season so we didn't get to shop. It looked like it would have been fun. The only restuarant open was Gretchen's. The food was only average but rather pricey. The waitress did not tell us the special (which I would have ordered). I would eat in town next time. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants the old world feel of luxury.

After a short flight to Boise and 2 1/2 hour drive, we arrived in Ketchum/Sun Valley. A short check-in and quick unpacking of bags--we strolled downstairs to take the shuttle to town. The hotel shuttle is a small fleet of Lexus SUV's. Sun Valley is located approx 1 mile from the main hub of Ketchum. We took the shuttle the first night into town and walked back on the quiet snowy evening. We woke to 4" of fresh snow and made the walk into town for breakfast. We walked the trails then wandered around town for some shopping. The hotel was a great place to stay with comfortable room, we had 2 doubles and overlooked the ice rink with a view of Dollar Mountain. During "slack" season, this was a great place to stay as the Duchin Lounge just off the lobby was a happenin' place! Room service was prompt & courteous--having Starbucks coffee on the room service menu was a great surprise. Our last morning, we walked the Sun Valley Village to pick up some souvenirs then we hit the road. A fantastic getaway for a quick weekend from any W. Coast City. Highly recommend!

I have stayed at the Sun Valley Lodge, or Inn, several times for the last 9-10 years for conferences and personal trips. The ambiance is excellent, European style, clean, and comfortable. The two outdoor heated pools can't be missed, and the spa is something my wife enjoys every trip. The town of Ketchum is a classic American ski town with boutiques, restaurants (The Sawtooth Grill is something everyone should try...) and plenty of low end to very high end shopping. And don't forget to ski, or in the summer, golf. Go and enjoy!
