Doors Hostel - Reviews

It's a wonderful thing to hear of someone who has chased their dream and is now having it realised. Of course I didn't know this when me and my friend rocked up at the Doors hostel co-run by the wonderfully sweet Diana, supported by her equally sweet boyfriend Ceaser as well as other friends and family. Running this charming, boho, elegant, hostel was always Diana's dream, and i feel priviliged to have helped her along by being one of the many satisfied cutomers, who arrive as strangers and leave having acquired friends

The hostel is in a quiet district, 5-10 mins walking distance from the centralised Piata Unirii where Metro and Buses are in abundance; making it highly accessible. It is a lovingly restored (painstakingly by Diana and her support crew) victorian-era house with many of the original features still evident, including teh most beautiful woodburning heaters. these floor to ceiling beauties are no longer used, but adorn every room and add to the rustic yet modern charm of the place.

All the rooms are immaculately clean; there is a sweet chill out space with innovative seating resembling raised floors, a small functional kitchen and a large garden, we couldn't take advantage of because of teh snow, but looked impressive and a great space for the summer. Wifi is free, as is internet access, although limited to one PC at time opf writing.

Any shortcomings however are made up for by Diana and her Ceaser who are super helpful and will ensure your every need is met. If quiet, they may also share a tea with you from Diana's expansive and impressive tea bar. Intelligent, open-minded and clearly warm people, it was Diana, Ceaser and the Doors Hostel that made my trip to Bucharest so wonderful.
