  • I simply can't say enough good things

By Nootka Island Lodge on Jul 21, 2018

I simply can't say enough good things about our trip to Nootka Island Lodge this past week. Honestly giving it a 5 star rating isn't even close to how awesome it was.

Everything about the trip was amazing. First off, the food was delicious and so filling, portions were great and there was a really good variety. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and the evening snacks were all prepared with care. It was like eating a really good home cooked meal but you didn't have to do any of the work! The deserts were great too!

Next, the staff. Starting right off the top with Tim. Made you feel at home right away, asking questions and getting you settled in. Everyone from the dock hands, to the girl in charge was perfect. One of the girls picked up on a little joke in our group and kept it running the entire time. It was the personal touches like this that made this trip outstanding. There are too many good things to list about the staff, I could have just kept this review about them and it would be enough to convince you to go there.

The lodge/facilities were perfect. I can't imagine how they could be any better.
The rooms were cozy and the bed was really comfortable. The lounge was a great place to catch up with our own group as well as the other groups there. The seating/chairs were really comfortable and in really good shape and was perfect for relaxing between the trips and recovering from the food coma from lunch. I really enjoyed the memorabilia and knickknacks that were spread throughout, it gave you a history of the lodge and made you feel like you were adding to the legacy of the place.

Finally the guide and the fishing. The guide does all the work, sets up the rods, does the down rigging and does the bait, which honestly I wasn't looking forward to. He was patient with me as a first timer and was super supportive when I let a 30+ pound salmon get away. Ours talked when you wanted to talk, and kept to himself when we just wanted to drink in the scenery.

And about that scenery, It was mind blowing, it was one of the most beautiful places on earth to be in. Then to get the rush of catching a 20 to 30 pound salmon several times per day.......I can't accurately describe it, you will just have to go yourself and see.

If you do decide to take a trip to the Nootka Island area to go fishing, I really hope you look up Tim and his team at Nootka Island Lodge, you won't be disappointed. And who knows, I might see you there next year, we already booked.

Went to Nootka Island Lodge with my father for our first ever fishing trip. We were very pleased with the staff at the lodge and the logistics were planned perfectly. Great food, great people and a great time.
