Activity/Tourkeyboard_double_arrow_up
Built in Central Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo) using the simple time honoured methods of traditional local craftmsmen, our boats have been extensively modified by foreign architectural and building experts working with local construction teams.

Our flagship, the Rahai'i Pangun II, remains the first and most highly awarded eco tourism cruise boat in Palangkaraya. Named by the traditional elders after an historic vessel of the same name trading far and wide and bringing home riches, Rahai'i Pangun means big development.

Pioneers of upmarket eco cruising in this 'off the beaten track' region of Borneo, we are now operating boats in 3 locations, all operating under the same ecotourism principles.

Cruise programs of 2-5 days can be enjoyed in all destinations. Here is a sample 3 day cruise program on the Rahai'i Pangun 2 from Palangka Raya into the heart of the rattan weaving area.

Day 1
PALANGKA RAYA – PULAU KAJA - RAHAI'I PANGUN - TANJUNG PUSAKA (LD)
We will meet you either on arrival at the airport or in your hotel lobby. At 7.30 am we transfer you 40 minutes to the tiny village of Sei Gohong where we board local canoes to observe orangutans on the beautiful forested island of Pulau Kaja. The island is managed by the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation or BOS and may be closed at times. Returning to Palangka Raya harbour, we board the Rahai'i Pangun to start the cruise downstream to Tanjung Pusaka village. In the evening, we will explore the village to see the fishing activities, village cattle raising, and a demonstration of Pencak Silat, a traditional martial art performance. Join the village school group as they practice and have a go yourself! After finishing this excursion, we return to the boat and stay overnight in the area.
Day 2
TUMBANG NUSA – PURUN or GREY SEDGE WEAVING & VILLAGE VISIT (BLD)
In the early morning, we will use motorised canoes to visit the extensive blackwater Lake Bagantung. This is a unique peatland swamp ecosystem where we have the opportunity to spot birds and other wildlife. Then, the boat continues the cruise downstream to Tumbang Nusa village. On arrival, we will have a walking tour in the village to see some of their traditional livelihoods.  First, the grey sedge or ‘purun' weaving and handmade straw cooperative, made from rushes growing naturally in the canals and lakes. The boat will continue to cruise downstream, passing the large forested Selat and Badak Islands. It may be possible to spot orangutans here. The boat will stop and find a quiet place to tie up overnight.
Day 3
PILANG - RATTAN WEAVING - DEPARTURE (BL)
Early morning, the boat continues downstream to the village of Pilang where we take a short walk in the forest area near the village to see the process of rubber tapping (Mamantat) and rattan harvesting (Manetes). Our village guide will also point out some local medicinal plants growing in the forest. We then have a walking tour of the village to see some of their traditional livelihoods. Watch the local ladies at their rattan weaving process and meet the villagers. Over a special tea and coffee, with traditional Dayak cakes such as apam and untuk-untuk, we will be entertained with a Kacapi (two-stringed instrument) performance. Escaping the heat of the midday sun, we will return to the boat for lunch. Check out is 2 pm and vehicles will be waiting to transfer you to the airport or to your hotel of choice.
