The Waterfall House is located in the Kaaterskill Clove; the area the Hudson River School of Painters called "Sublime" Waterfalls, mountains, streams and hiking trails are right out your front door. The tallest waterfall in New York State (20 feet taller than Niagara Falls) is a 10 minute drive up the Kaaterskill Clove.
Thomas Cole and his student's home Fredrick Church are a 10-20 minute drive to vista these historic homes. Hudson a 25 minute drive is filled with antique stores, art galleries and fine restaurants.
Not to be missed in the famous Woodstock just a 15 minute drive. Great restaurants, art galleries and stores. Woodstock always has live music venues in the evening. Join the drumming circle on Sundays 4-6pm outdoors on the green in the center of town, weather permitting.
Visit Saugerties just 7 miles to the center of town. A real 18th century unaltered town except for the terrific stores and restaurants. You will delight in its authentic character. Hits horse show in the summer and fall brings the best in riders and jumpers.
Taking a little longer drive on the east side of the Hudson River will take you to many historic homes FDR's, Vanderbilt's and don't forget the famous Culinary Institute of America. Great dining lunch or dinner.
