Welcome aboard an aluminum flat-bottom river boat that hold 24 people comfortably. The boats are powered by twin, four stroke, outboard motors, which are equipped with a lower unit at the bottom of the shaft that is called a jet unit. This allows the boats to traverse the very shallow channels of the silt-laden Chilkat River.
Typical Day
The river route covers 25 miles of the Preserve, with the opportunity to travel many of the different channels where the moose and eagles hang out.
Age range, type of group
Look forward to breathtaking views of the Chilkat Mountains that surround this amazing preserve. A typical day consists of a meal before or after you get on the river, and cool, calm ride through the braided tributaries that make up the Chilkat River. Keep an eye peeled for moose, eagles, bears, and trumpeter swans - the largest flight bird of North America.
Sleeping and meals
No minimum age and no maximum age. Child rates from age 6-11. Under 6 of age has a minimal rate.
