Day 1: Sai Gon - drive/bike to Vinh Long & 40km/25miles cycling
ActiveTravel ASIA biking tour guide will collect you in Sai gon. For the first day of our Mekong Delta adventure, we have a quick transfer to Cailay. Then, we set off our bikes and start cycling back roads to Cai Be, where we’ll board a boat to An Binh Islet. We’ll spend some time visiting artisans; watch coconut candy making, rice paper making, and popcorn/ popped rice making. Then, we’ll enjoy lunch on the island before continuing on to our local home stay run by a lovely retired couple, Mr. & Mrs. Ba. The Ba's live in a typical Mekong delta Vietnamese house, with airy rooms and an outdoor kitchen. The rest of the afternoon you’re free to bike around the home stay.

Day 2: Vinh Long - Tra Vinh & 60km/37miles cycling
After breakfast with the Ba, we’ll have a short boat trip to Vinh Long, one of the famous fruit towns in the Mekong. In Vinh Long, we’ll bike along narrow country lanes through tiny orchards. You’ll witness colorful life along the riverside, as you pedal past picturesque delta homes and villages. We are getting deeply into Mekong delta, Vietnam part - where we often call Nine Dragon Delta river.
We will cross narrow canals on a local sampan, before boarding a ferry for a refreshing boat trip across the expansive Co Chien River. Then, we’ll take the last cycling with few kilometers to the very pretty Khmer town of Travinh. There will be plenty of time to explore side tracks and trails, as the cycling distance for the day is not far. We’ll stay overnight at a local hotel in Tra Vinh.
Biking: 60km " Moderate Grade

Day 3: Tra Vinh " Can Tho & 80km/ 50miles cycling
On the third day, our ride will be very special; much of the area is populated by Khmer people. The regional architecture is interesting and there are many Khmer temples to stop and admire en route. You will have the freedom to cycle as much or as little as you prefer; the road is peaceful, narrow and very pretty all the way to Can Tho! We’ll cycle to Ba Om Pond to see its magnificent lotus flowers, and observe local women having their futures predicted in the small temple nearby. En route, we’ll also stop to visit a local Buddhist temple school.
Our tour guide and private vehicle along your biking trip will be very much flexible with the biking plan so that you can enjoy at its best. Dine under your own management in Can tho and overnight in a comfortable hotel here.

Day 4: Can Tho " Cai Rang floating market " Saigon & 30km/18miles cycling
Early morning we’ll board a boat to visit the Cai Rang floating market. It’s a fun boat ride as we weave through teeming early morning market bustle along the banks of an active riverfront explore floating market. Then we will continue by bike on the narrow lane and loop round to the main road. Along the way you’ll absorb sights of endless cottage industries, timber merchants, coconut shredders, and small docks loading/unloading rice. Lunch will be held at a local restaurant before heading back to Ho Chi Minh City to end the trip.

Moderate Grade that means this tour involve in active, physical-required activities can be up to 4 - 5 hours a day at a steady pace. The tour is going to involve a considerable amount of ascent or descent under different weather conditions. Support facilities may not be available on-site and there are some occasional difficult days. You will need a good level of fitness.
* Suggested preparation: 30 - 45 minutes of aerobic, physical exercise, 3-4 times per week for a few weeks leading up to your adventure are recommended.

All meals, which are indicated in the itinerary, are included in the price of this trip. While in big towns we will enjoy Vietnamese cuisine in fine restaurants. Once we travel away from big towns, the emphasis will be on healthy and nutritious fresh local produce.

In big towns we use the finest 3 star hotels with center location. In remote areas we use the best hotels or guest houses available.
Homestay in villages is simple in term of bedding condition and amenities. We will sleep on beds or floor with mattress, clean sheet, pillows and mosquito nets. Toilet is usually western style

The tour will be led by one of our tour guides who is experienced in guided cycling tours in Vietnam. He has been carefully trained in this field and is fully licensed in tour guiding by the government. In addition, he has been trained in first-aid by SOS International and he knows how to deal with difficult situations. You will have a great time traveling with him.

A typical biking day starts at about 8.30 am after breakfast. Lunch times can vary depending on the distance. We aim to reach the next overnight stop by 4.30 or 5. During the biking we will have plenty short breaks for rest, snack and photographing.

On this tour we use TREK 3900 and TREK 4500 disc brake with different sizes for this biking adventures in Mekong Delta due to its natural road features. Biking helmet of good quality is also provided.

- Support truck: each morning our main baggage will be loaded onto the support vehicle which will follow the group on the day's ride. The local biking leader and the support vehicle driver will watch over the group and will carry mobile phones, allowing you to contact them in the case of a breakdown or other incident. We want everyone to enjoy their cycling experience on this trip and we recognize the importance of group members being allowed to cycle at their own pace. At times there can be a fair distance between the front and rear cyclists in the group, with the support vehicle and cycling leader out of sight. The support vehicle will pick up any group members who wish to take a break from cycling at any time.
