A horseback riding vacation at Linden Tree Retreat & Ranch will, without a doubt, be one of the most memorable experiences of your life. Our wranglers at the Ranch are well versed in Natural Horsemanship and love sharing their passion for horseback riding with guests of all different experience levels. From our typical 2-hour trail ride to our all-day rides, you are bound to never tire from the stunning Velebit Nature Park, UNESCO protected Biosphere Reserve, which totals over 250 000 hectares. If trail riding is not quite your calling, we have the answer for that as well. We proudly offer a multitude of lessons, workshops and clinics back at the ranch, from colt starting to horsemanship workshops.

In this gorgeous wilderness setting, we welcome only a select few guests at a time. The Ranch is completely immersed in the wilderness, with the steady hum of nature all around. Our secluded hideaway is set on 25 hectares of private pastures and forests nestled inside 250 000 hectares of UNESCO Biosphere reserve.
Accommodations are in harmony with the best of ranch living and feature amenities where guests can relax after experiencing a day of horse riding in Croatia and adventures in wilderness. Buffalo Lodge is Built in 1924, this mountain cabin offer laid back, country style luxury, old-fashioned charm and the rustic flavor of frontier living, all superbly blended with casual elegance. Restoration followed traditional construction techniques. The Buffalo Lodge features 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room and a kitchen. It can accommodate up to 6 people. Self-catering or personal chef service are possible in the lodge.
Dancing Moon is an apartment with 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and living room with a terrace. It can accommodate up to 6 people. With cast iron wood stove for cozying up in front with a good book on a chilly evening, Dancing Moon is a perfect winter getaway. Because it sits very close to our tack room and riding area, the terrace offers front-row seats to horse action. Self-catering or personal chef service are possible in the apartment.
The Loft is a deluxe suite that consists of a large bedroom with sitting area, bathroom and terrace. It can accommodate up to 3 people. Wood for building the Loft, as well as all our units, was sourced at the ranch as part of sustainable forestry program and it was built in collaboration with local carpenter. This way local people benefit from your stay in this charming dwelling.
Stella, named after one of our young mares, consists of a master bedroom and full bathroom. In building our casitas we took great care and consideration for the people with special physical needs. Therefore, both exterior and interior are designed on a single level which enables unobstructed movement for persons that have problems with staircases.
Luna is named after one of our two young mares. It consists of a master bedroom and full bathroom. In building our casitas we took great care and consideration for the people with special physical needs. Therefore, both exterior and interior are designed on a single level which enables unobstructed movement for persons that have problems with staircases.
Lakota: Being inside a tipi is living a step closer to nature. During the day, a tipi has a mellow, even illumination. When it rains, it is cozy and dry inside while the drumming of the raindrops overhead soothes the soul. At night, especially during the full moon, shadows of surrounding trees are painted on the cover of the wall and with clear skies, stars shine down between the poles.
Guests staying in the tipi have their own detached private bathroom conveniently located within meters from the tipi. Bathroom is fully equipped with hot-water shower, toilet, bathrobes and toiletries.
Ponderosa: Our single en-suite room Ponderosa will cradle you with its carefully appointed furniture, feather bed, massage shower, uncluttered simplicity and above all nurturing silence as a result of natural, sheep's wool insulation that is sourced from sheep herders in the valley. Is deposit needed to secure my reservation?
A 35% deposit of the base cost is required to confirm your reservation. Your reservation is confirmed upon receiving your deposit. If a reservation is made within 60 days of your stay, a 75% deposit is required. For final payment, while present at the ranch, we accept cash, Visa, Amex, Diners or Master Card. We also offer 12-month payment program for American Express and Diners car holders, should it be more practical for you to pay for your vacation over a period of time.
What is your sales policy?
Prepayment of 35,00% required for booking, balance due on departure
Check-in time is after 15:00 on arrival day
Check-out time is before 11:00 on departure day
Late check-out may result in extra charge
The final accounts settlement is due at check-out
Note that children aged 4 and older are charged the adult rate. Please include them in the number of adults

Cancellation notifications occurring less than 60 days prior to arrival are not eligible for a refund. Reservation reductions such as party size or duration will not receive rate adjustments prior to 60 days of arrival. A 10% service charge of the total reservation will be charged for any date change made within 60 days of arrival. The reservation will be held by 24:00, on arrival date. In case of no show, we will apply a cancellation fee of 100,00 % of reservation value.
Does the Ranch allow pets?
Yes, Linden Tree is a pet-friendly. Well-mannered, people-friendly dogs will enjoy the endless trails, dips in the river and fresh mountain air. The pet rate is €20 per pet, per night. We will ensure accommodations are equipped with pet bowls, plastic bags for clean-up and a comfortable place to rest sleepy heads. Leashes may be encouraged in outdoor common areas. Please be aware of wildlife when bringing pets to the Ranch. Pet care services are available. Hourly rate applies. Pets cannot participate in some of the activities. Most notably, for safety reasons, dogs cannot be taken on horseback rides.
