Parque Maritimo el Coco is the perfect spot to come with all the family or couple because our beach allows a safe and enjoyment swim. While you stay in one of our lovely houses we invite you to enjoy unique activities on the beach or at the surrounding areas like; Football, Volleyball, Frisbee, horse or bicycle riding to the nearby villas or into the jungle to observe Black Howler monkeys (Alouatta caraya), birds, butterflies, and other kinds of animals. At night you can visit “playa la Flor”, a sanctuary for endanger marine turtles. On nesting periods of the marine turtle “Paslama” (Lepidochelys oliveacea) you can observe up to 20,000 turtles on a period of time of four days. During the day you can take a boat tour nearby “playa la flor” and “playa el Coco” where marine turtles can be seen mating. With a bit of luck you can see dolphins or whales on some periods of the year. Another tour you can take is to “Bolaños” island on the boundaries of Costa Rica and Nicaragua, a sanctuary for frigatebirds (Fregata magnificens) and other marines birds like pelicans. You will get to the nesting sites where baby birds are getting out of the eggs.

Parque Marítimo El Coco lies 18 kilometers south of San Juan del Sur, on the route to Ostional. As you drive into San Juan del Sur you will notice a cross road leading off to your left with a sign indicating the direction of Parque Marítimo El Coco. This macadam road takes you to Parque Marítimo el Coco within half an hour. During the rainy season we recommend using a four wheel drive vehicle. Buses leave the Managua station at the Roberto Huembes Market for Rivas every hour. From Rivas you can catch the bus to Ostional at 11:30am, 3pm or 4:45pm, and you can get off this bus just in front of the Parque Marítimo El Coco. Same goes for the buses leaving for Ostional from San Juan del Sur, leaving at 1pm, 4pm and 5:30pm. For the trip back catch a bus in front of the hotel entrance at 6am, 7:30am or 4pm.
