One Day Tour Program: Excursion to Prek Toal floating village and visit of the bird reserve
The full day program starts the same way than the half day program, detailed above.* After the visit of the bird reserve in the flooded forest, return to the village where a copious meal will be served on a floating house. In early afternoon, visit the floating village by paddle boat and learn about spatial and social village organization, fishing techniques and about the local development and conservation projects. You will visit among other things the water hyacinth workshop ‘'Saraï “ managed by a group of women and stop at a luxuriant floating garden.
The trips starts with a one hour travel over the Tonle Sap, reaching Prek Toal floating village. Visit interesting places and activities including floating gardens, fishing raising farm, croc raising farm, a local school and pagoda. In the late afternoon enjoy the sunset colors on the lake shore, then return to a local host family for dinner and to spend the night in a floating house.
The following day, discover the bird sanctuary in the center of the flooded forest with a specialized guide. The 21.000 ha of flooded forest welcome the largest water bird colonies of South East Asia such as pelicans, ibis, storks, fish eagles, and cormorants. During your visit, you will receive detailed information concerning the ecology and hydrology of the Tonle Sap, fishing techniques, social village organization and the conservation and nature protection projects done here. Physiological adaptations of the flora will also be introduced, along with useful plants for medicine and cooking. After the bird sanctuary, return to the village to visit the water hyacinth workshop ‘'Saraï “managed by a group of women. Then stop for lunch in your host house before going back to Siem Reap.
Departure at 13.30 p.m and return the day after at 14.00 pm
