The mid-Atlantic Ocean surrounding Cape Verde is rich with all kinds of marine life, and fishing is the main occupation for the people living here. The most comfortable way to travel from Europe to Santiago, Cape Verde is via Lisbon and furter directly to the capital of Praia in Santiago. The airport in Praia is called Franciso Mendes International airport and is referred to by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) using the airport code “RAIâ€. Flying time from Lisbon to Praia is approx. 4½ hours. When booking your tickets you should be aware that there are large price differences between airlines, so it pays off to spend some time researching. Make sure that the flight goes directly to Praia otherwise it can be a long one.
