SAMPLE 9 DAY ITINERARY WITH SAFARI

DAY 1: ARUSHA TO LAKE CHALA

Riding along the beautiful Arusha scenary and experiencing the culture and people first hand. Arriving at Lake Chala, you will be amazed by the beautiful landscape. The Lake is also safe for swimming and therefore expect a hiking trip to the Lake should the weather allow it.

DAY 2: LAKE CHALA TO SAME (EASTERN ARCH MOUNTAIN TRAIL)

You will experience spectacular views of the South Pare Mountains while riding towards Same and because of the location of the accommodation offered it is the ideal gateway to Mkomazi National Park, the South Pare Mountains and Shengena Forest.

DAY 3: SAME TO LUSHOTO HIGHLANDS

Riding towards Lushoto town, you will experience amazing scenery as you ascend the Usambara highlands, with the spectacular views of the Eastern Arc' which was introduced in 1985 to describe the forest-capped ancient crystalline mountains of eastern Tanzania and south-east Kenya.

DAY 4: LUSHOTO TO MAASAI STEPPE

Bush camp accommodation: Camping under African Sky

Experience a typical African wilderness in the bush arranged by our team, all basic needs will be provided, including meals based on African food experience,Camp fires, Maasai dancing and entertainments.


DAY 5: MAASAI STEPPE TO TARANGIRE, MANYARA ECOSYSTEMS

This is a unique opportunity to experience and explore the Tarangire and Manyara ecosystem. Maramboi Tented Camp offers permanent camp facilities and endless vistas of rolling golden grasslands and palm lined desert between Tarangire and Manyara Lake. A visit to the area is essential for anyone interested in evolution and the origins of Mankind and an explanation of the Rift Valley and Africa's big picture. It is a complete semi desert experience focusing on game animals on their free range.


DAY 6: TARANGIRE MANYARA ECOSYSTEM

We spend the day in Tarangire. Half day game drive inside Tarangire National Park.There will be possible to ride a few hours outside the park and there will be possible just to rest by the pool, next to a lot of wild animals.

DAY 7: TARANGIRE MANYARA ECOSYSTEM TO LAKE EYASI

We will be riding on rift valley escarpment towards the Hadzabe community,, and experience the Hunters and gatherers tribe in East Africa ,as we are going to hunt with them on their grounds. We are going to use a car as it will be our sundowner hunt.

DAY 8: LAKE EYASI TO LAKE NATRON

The trip will take you East along winding dirt trails away from the lush area surrounding the mountain and out into the savannah scenery of the Maasai plains. You will ride towards the wall of the Great Rift Valley at the base of which stands the mighty active volcano Ol Donyo Lengai, which last erupted in the 1970's. It is revered by the Maasai as the home of ‘Ngai', their god. At the foot of the mountain there is an area of rocky desert and Lake Natron, a huge soda lake, which stretches up to the Kenyan border. Flamingos come here to breed and in the late afternoon sun.

DAY 9: LAKE NATRON TO ARUSHA

We pack up and follow trails which wind along the base of the rift valley to the Maasai trading post of Mto Wa Mbu. Along the way we will see Maasai in traditional dress tending their herds. There is a good chance of seeing game animals close to the track. Zebra and antelope are often in this area, perhaps we will even see giraffe or if we are very lucky elephant. We stop for a break at a huge crater, and then push on to Engaruka for lunch.
After lunch we will head back to Arusha, where a cold drink will be waiting for us, and we can tell stories from our safari.
