Susanna Starr

Part-time resident of Laguna Bacalar since 1985, my love affair with this area still continues. As a travel writer, I have had much experience with adjacent destinations, such as the Mayan Riviera and the nearby country of Belize, as well as travel in Latin America. As author of Fifty and Beyond; New Beginnings in Health and Well-Being as well as Our Interwoven Lives with the Zapotec Weavers; An Odyssey of the Heart (with my partner, John Lamkin), I've found valuable writing time here in my home away from home. For forty years I've spent lots of time in Oaxaca and in the nearby weaving village where I've been working directly with the many weavers I represent in my gallery in Taos, New Mexico, Starr Interiors. Time here at Casa Estrella has enabled me to indulge in my passions, reading, writing, painting and gardening. Hopefully, we can share with you some of the beauty and serenity we have found in our home here on the edge of one of the most beautiful and special bodies of water anywhere. Its proximity to some of the most magnificent of the ancient Mayan ruins still connects us to these ancient people.
