The themes of this retreat will be rejuvenation, relaxation, inner peace, and connection with the part of ourselves that knows how to heal, to create, and to love.

Many of us are busy "making a living," and we forget to follow our joy. We may have also promised ourselves that "one of these days" we will commit time and energy to what really matters - ourselves, our dreams, our aspirations, our personal healing, our life purpose. And in a world where we are currently faced with so much turbulence, it is also important to address the intimate relationship between personal and global healing.

Life in Balance- A Journey into Healing is that "someday" put into a week in Kauai. We all carry with us an ancient dream that time away could profoundly change our lives and heal our bodies, minds, and spirits. And for years people have visited the Hawaiian islands to experience their remarkable healing power, extraordinary beauty, and gentle island culture. Tensions often begin to melt away with the first encounter with fragrances of plumeria or tuberose, or with an initial swim in the healing ocean waters.

Experience a feast for the senses, far from the hustle and bustle of the world- on a secluded shore where nature is extraordinary. Kauai emerges from the mists as a garden of emerald rain forests, russet cliffs, and red earth- and the seamless meeting of the sparkling azure waters of the Pacific Ocean with the pristine skies above.

Life in Balance Workshop-

The island of Kauai was chosen as the location for this workshop because it provides a feast for the senses with its sheer natural beauty and diversity. With this extraordinary immersion into nature, we can understand more clearly how to heal ourselves and our world.

We will incorporate our experience of the island into our workshop by visiting other sides of the island- where the climate changes are dramatic. We will experience walking and sitting meditations and have a chance to tap into our creativity with drawings of the landscapes we visit.

Exploring the possibilities that lie beyond current beliefs and paradigms regarding health, we will incorporate the lens of modern day Quantum Physics together with the ancient holistic teachings of Ayurveda. Considered one of the leading forms of holistic medicine available, Ayurveda addresses all factors that influence our quality of life.

Everything that we interact with- including our nutrition, relationships, family, work, and our environment- has an effect on our health and well being. A guiding principle is that mind and body are inter-connected and that the mind has a profound influence over our well-being.

Health is more than simply the absence of disease — it is a dynamic state of balance and and it is profoundly creative. It results from an integration of body, mind, and spirit- and the world around us.

In the Life in Balance Workshop, the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda is merged with the knowledge of modern medicine to create an integrated path toward health and well being.

In this workshop you will also have a chance to:

Develop a greater understanding of your unique mind/body physiology, and how to bring healing and balance into your physical, emotional and spiritual experience of life through this understanding.

Understand how the cycles of nature influence physical and emotional well being. Learn to harmonize biological rhythms through adopting a daily routine, and learn a self-massage to release healing chemicals into your physiology.

Honor your body's internal signals and identify which foods create optimal energy and nourishment. Learn basic principles for preparing and eating meals in order to restore balance, improve digestion, and transform unwanted habits.

Experience a profound emotional cleansing process to release accumulated stresses. Learn ways to communicate in relationships that allow for greater intimacy and fulfillment. Examine the physical, emotional, and spiritual layers that make up human experience.


Learn to use your heart as well as your mind to make insightful choices and evolutionary life decisions. Sharpen your intuition and inner wisdom. Tap into the present moment through creative expression, and learn how to recognize and express your own inherent unique gifts and talents.

Practice yoga and pranayama. Yoga is well known as a doorway to opening energy in the body. Through the practice of asana and pranayama (breathing techniques) blockages that inhibit the free-flow of prana, or vital life force energy, begin to melt away. Enhancing flexibility and releasing stress are as meaningful a purpose for the practice of yoga as is the awakening of spirituality. A gift of yoga is that it serves and nourishes us at every level of our being, and contributes to greater well being in all areas of life.

Practice a variety of pathways to enter into meditative, healing states of awareness. Meditation is the most powerful tool there is to help us restore the harmony within, and to gain access to our bodies' inner intelligence. By developing a meditative practice, you will also help to shift consciousness on the planet.

Continuing Education credit is also available through Magic of Healing West for some health professionals, including nurses (RN's), & psychotherapists (CA MFT's and LCSW's.)

Deluxe Ocean Front 2006 room rates at the Sheraton Kauai Resort are listed at $635 and up/night; the special price offered our group begins at $250/night. Garden View 2006 room rates are listed at $370-$575/night; the price for our group starts at $175/night.
