We booked our hotel room as ocean front. We could only see the ocean when we stood up on our deck. There were potted plants lining our terrace railing which blocked our view. The air conditioning was practically useless, thankfully we had ceiling fans. The water pressure in the bathroom was little more than a drizzle. Seating around the adult pool was largely rented cabanas at $150 per day unless you want to sit out in the grass away from the water. I don't really need to go on, and the sad part of this is, we paid over $5,000 for our 10 day stay. Shame on us for being taken......

We got treated like second class citizens since we did not book directly with them. We were there on our honeymoon, and the put us in a room with two double beds. When I mentioned it was our honeymoon, the receptionist said there was nothing she could do since we did not book directly with them. We got into a room with a king bed the next night, but it was in a partial ocean view room. We had paid for an ocean view room, and got now reimbursement for the downgraded room. They nickel and dime you for every little thing they can ($1 for a local call). You definitely do not get the service that you are paying for.

Everything is really nice. Went on my honeymoon so I was surprised by all the families. They have 1 adult only pool and 2 that allow kids, 1 with a slide. They also have a swim up bar but its not in the adult only pool which is odd. They give u complimentary chairs and umbrellas on the beach which is a nice and a nice break since a hamburger costs $20. But everything is that expensive in Hawaii. There's also no night life. You'll have to drive 45 mins for bars open past 11. But its not too big of a deal since theres tons of adventures to do around the island. The room was excellent and I would consider staying there again.

The Kea Lani is clean, well maintained, and basically a very nice property. However, we did not find the service to match the hype or the price. The property and outdoor areas are too small for the number of guests. If you want to lounge by the pool and get service - food and drink - forget about it - it is not going to happen. Want to upgrade your room or request a delayed departure - forget about it. There was not one request we made which was not summarily denied with no options.
We also thought the charging for every little amenity was also over the top - want to sit under the umbrella on the beach, it is going to cost you $10 an hour. We would recommend you spend your money at another property, we don't plan on going back.

This resort is absolutely beautiful in every way. The grounds, the pools, the restaurants and shops and the front outdoor lobby. The service is wonderful and we felt the staff was happy we were their guests. Compared to the other resorts along this stretch of beach, the Fairmont is very Zen-like. The food was delicious in all the restaurants. Yes. A little pricey but I'd rather pay a little more for better quality. I would highly recommend this resort. We can hardly wait to return.
