I was pleasantly surprised with our stay. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. Everyone greeted us with a smile. The facility is older with dated features but is clean and well maintained. The beds and linens were very good - the hotel did not skimp there. The views over the beach were wonderful, though one probably needs to be 3rd floor or higher to see over the dunes. Breakfast was standard hotel fare with some hot items and the staff kept up very well on a busy morning.

The room and the view were nice, but what made the stay excellent was the staff. We were under the impression that the pull was open but, it wasn't my husband asked to talk to the manager because it wasn't on the site that the pool was closed. The manager as soon as she came in contacted us imediately and gave us a discount for the site being wrong. In general everyone was quite helpful and the morning breakfast was very nice. The attendant was on top of keeping the coffee fresh and everything stocked. I would deffently stay there again and would recomend to stay there to anyone.

Stayed off season, Jan, got a good rate. Nice set up with rooms, separate living room with ocean view. Breakfast was bare bones. Front desk was helpful, got good recommendation for restaurant.

Room was a suite and was spacious, had a bedroom with two double beds and adequate storage. Kitchenette was supplied with plates, flatware, cups, glasses, cooking utensils; stove small, fridge small, no dishwasher; living area had a murphy bed and a sofa bed. Bathroom had an in the bathroom vanity also an outside the bathroom vanity- handy. But the ventilation fan was way too loud. Plenty of towels though and that was wonderful. Televisions in both living area and bedroom. stayed on second floor- ocean front. If you want to see the beach ask for third floor. second floor view is just the top of the dunes and then out to sea-wonderful breeze all the time. Best time of day is just before sunrise - incredible sunrises- mesmerizing. If the pool is more to your liking, it was very nice and easily accessible. Breakfast was the usual grab and go fare- yoghurt, bread, muffins, bagels, some fruit, coffee, hot water, milk and cereal. This hotel would be great for a family stay with young children. The parking lot is a bit small for the size of the hotel, you may want to return to your room early in the evening. Older kids might find it a bit confining in the room after a while. While adequate, the rooms are plainly decorated so there would be no worries about kids messing things up. The location was great for Jockey's Ridge and for the Wright Brothers Monument. Also, there's a bike rental place right next door, a small market across the street and easy access to the beach- no crossing the street. If you like a bit more of a choice in breakfast- try Grits Grill down in Nags Head- on the right going south- great breakfasts and good coffee.
