I have a fancy for hill stations. Not just because they let you escape the heat of the plains and the snow, but also for the peace and tranquility one feels at a hill station. As a child, I had been to a number of hill stations like Ooty, Gangtok, and Dalhousie. This time I thought of going to Darjeeling. Who hasnt heard much about the place but I never got the time to go there. Finally after taking a break from office, I took the family to explore Darjeeling. One of my colleagues in office recommended Hotel Sinclairs and I decided to go ahead with his advice and booked rooms there. I was glad I came where I did, not just because of the place but also the hotel. The view from the hotel took my breath away. I had never got such a great view of the mountains earlier. And this time even from my room, the Kanchenjunga stood tall and sparkling under the mid day sun. I would have spent the day just sitting there if not for my family pushing me along. The buffet lunch at the hotel restaurant had a lot of variety like Indian and Chinese and came hot and fresh. It was then time to look around the town and it was great. The hotel manager had also recommended us to see some places. Is he a mind reader that he knew what would interest us? We were happier for his help. We truly had a fantastic time. Another visit will be kept in mind.
