I stayed here from October 5th -12th while on my regular fall vacation to the Outer Banks. This was the first time I have stayed at this hotel and it was a pleasant surprise. It is right across from Jeanetteâs Pier and had a convenience store within walking distance. It isnât in a high traffic area, so it has a relaxed atmosphere while also having great access to the major highway running through the Outer Banks, so getting to restaurants and shopping was an easy drive.
The first night, I stayed in one of the cabins, the room was well-kept and appeared to have been recently updated. It had parallel parking in front of it, so it was easy to run out to my car if I needed to get anything. It had a nice view, but I couldnât see the ocean from where I was, so I checked to see if they had another room that looked out towards the ocean where I could see it from my room. After my request, I was moved to a third floor suite that had large windows that faced to the east toward the ocean. From the third floor, I had a great view, the room was huge and had a kitchenette and small sitting area with a couch. It appeared to have been recently updated as well. I had no problem connecting to the internet and had a strong signal from either room, so their wifi seems to have good coverage.
Based on my first experience, this hotel will be my first choice when I go to the Outer Banks based on its overall comfort, value and convenience.

We stayed at the Rodeway Inn on our way to Cape Hatteras. We had been traveling for hours and found out that the room we reserved was not available. The hotel manager was more than accommodating. She quickly resolved the issue and made sure that we were all taken care of.

Previous reviews and hotel pictures are quite deceiving. The room was shabby and worn. It was advertised as large but there was barely room to walk to get to the bathroom because the bed was so close to the wall. The bathroom was so small that you couldn't turn around to dry off after the shower. It had a tiny toilet and sink with no counter to set anything on and the toilet tank top was not flat. There was no hair dryer. Bar soap was wafer thin, bath towels very thin and about the size of a hand towel, very thin, worn sheets, worn bed spread and carpet. The continental breakfast was a real joke. Every guest had at least one dog. The two jack russells in the next room barked every time I turned over in the bed. The steps (no elevator) should be closed as a safety hazard as they are only about five inches deep and maybe 30 inches wide--very difficult to carry luggage up and down stairs. The pool was very small and parking was a real challenge. Staff not so friendly. I would never recommend and would never spend the money again for this hotel.
