This is an oasis of comfort and serenity in the middle of Chicago. The hotel is located in the Gold Coast area just north of downtown and is surrounded by great shopping and dining. From the moment you enter the driveway, the business of the city seems to fall away. The staff are absolutely wonderful and are as attentive as any I've come across. I've stayed in a lot of great places in my life, and many hotels in Chicago, and they all fall short of the Waldorf. The spa was great, the bar is cozy and the rooms are unbelievable. The concierge did not hesitate when we asked for reservations at some popular places and the house car was a very nice perk that most hotels cannot replicate. Joe the driver was very accommodating and helpful.
My only complaint is the lighting system in the rooms - hard to figure out and when it's dark the labels are not back-lit and it's difficult to know what lights are coming on. However, this is a very minor inconvenience. We had a fireplace in our room that was a very welcome touch in the middle of winter. The bathrooms are huge and the overall decorating is understated elegance.
All in all, this was a nearly perfect experience.
Service is amazing, the room comfortable and spacious, and the area quiet.

The service is great. The staff all friendly and welcoming. Check in and check out were smooth and easy. The room feels like home. The fireplace was a nice touch, so was the tv in the mirror of the bathroom. The hotel is not on the busy Michigan Ave and is away from the city center, but it's not too far of a walk to the sights/restaurants/bars. Also the area is quieter because it's away from all the traffic. We certainly would recommend it to others, and would like to go back. We regret not being able to enjoy the spa. Maybe that'll be for next time.
