Maquoketa, Iowa is located in Eastern Iowa just halfway between Dubuque and Davenport, Iowa. We are only 20 miles from the Mississippi River in an area known for its beautifully scenic rolling hills and limestone bluffs. Squiers Manor is located in the West Pleasant Street Historic District of Maquoketa, a street lined with well kept Victorian Mansions that was once paved with treated wooden blocks instead of bricks because they were quieter under the wagon wheels and horses hoofs. Maquoketa is home to two art galleries, Banowetz Antique Mall, unique shopping and fine dining. The area surrounding Maquoketa has several nature and wildlife areas for hiking, biking, and bird watching. The Maquoketa Caves State Park is just 6 miles away. Public golf courses are located within an easy 20 - 30 minute drive. Tha Maquoketa River is a favorite for canoeists.

Squiers Manor is a Queen Anne Victorian brick mansion built in 1882. The large front porch and yard surrounded by the original iron fence are perfect for a relaxing evening. Squiers Manor has a total of 8 guest rooms and suites. Three of the guest rooms are beautiful suites. The decor is period Victorian but the atmosphere is relaxed. The antique decor, crackling fireplaces and Victorian ambiance provide for quiet times and intimate moments. A special candlelight dessert is served in the dining room each evening and every morning guests awaken to the aroma of baked goods and a full gourmet breakfast. At Squiers Manor the rooms all have private baths, queen and king size beds, in room-phone, TV and coffee. The three suites include the Jennie Mitchell Bridal Suite, located on the first floor; The Loft Suite, and the Ballroom Suite, both located on the third floor in what was originally the attic ballroom. The Jennie Mitchell Bridal Suite consists of the original library, guest bedroom and bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub for two. The bed is a brass bed with a seven foot tall headboard and lace curtain wings. The library has a working fireplace, a baby ggrand piano and a table set for a breakfast served in your suite in the morning. THe Loft Suite is a three level suite, complete with a 6' x 4' Jacuzzi for two and indirect lighting for a romantic atmosphere. The BAllroom suite is the largest, consisting of 1000+ square feet. The focal point is a 24 ft. cathedral ceiling over the sitting area. The 6' x 4' Jacuzzi for two is positioned under an East dormer window so you can watch the stars at noight or the morning sunrise. All Suites have the option of having a private breakfast delivered to them. The five guest room on the second floor also have private baths. They rae also decorated in period furnidhinmgs.
