Hostal Loreto is a comfortable, family run hostel with 43 bedrooms and a lively cafe/restaurant. All of the rooms have televisions, air conditioning, ceiling fans, en-suite bathrooms and security boxes. The building dates from the sixteenth century and is a former nunnery. It is located in a pedestrian area in the medieval centre of the old town close to many shops and restaurants and overlooked by a Moorish castle. It is rumored that a secret tunnel ran from the old nunnery to the castle.

Within a short walking distance of the hotel are 20 kilometers of beautiful beaches, excellent ferry links to Ibiza and the Balearic (Majorca and Minorca) and train and bus stations. The trip to Ibiza takes just over two hours on the fast ferry. The journey time from Alicante airport or Valencia airport to Denia is about an hour by car on the AP-7 motorway. The city itself is a bustling historic port with its own fishing fleet and two marinas protected by the hilltop castle and surrounded by acres of orange groves.

There are many water sports available in the local area including scuba diving, sailing, boat hire, wind-surfing and kite-surfing. There are also facilities for golf, hiking, horse riding, tennis, mountain-biking and climbing. We can supply entry tickets with special discounts for many attractions which are only a short drive away such as Terra Mitica (adventure park), Terra Natura (nature park), Aqualandia (water park), Mundomar (sea-life park) and the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (science park) in Valencia. However some people come just to enjoy the 20 kilometres of beautiful beaches!

The hostel houses a popular cafe/restaurant which fronts onto a street terrace in a pedestrian area. There is also a pleasantly cool XIV century patio where guests may breakfast. At lunchtimes the restaurant offers a three course 'menu del dia' including a glass of wine. The menu, which changes daily, costs 10 euros. Guests have the option of pre-paid full- or half-pension arrangements which offer a discount to the normal restaurant prices. The bar and restaurant are open all day from 8:00 in the morning until midnight serving drinks and snacks including a wide range of coffees and ice-creams.

In August there is a two night minimum stay for weekend bookings (Friday-Saturday).

Directions

BY CAR:
As you enter Denia you drive straight-on over a series of roundabouts. Just before the final roundabout there is a petrol station on the left hand side of the road. Exit this roundabout at the second exit into the Av. de Valencia. Drive straight on until you reach the no-entry signs (at the end of the Calle Loreto). Turn right into the Plaza Valgamedios and turn immediately (sharp) left into the Ronda de las Murallas. At the roundabout take the second exit right and follow the Ronda de las Murallas around the perimeter of the castle where it first becomes Sanchis Guarner, then Fora Mur and finally Calle de la Mar (on the other side of the castle). At the end of the Calle de la Mar drive straight-on to the Plaza Constitucion ignoring the dead-end signs (do not follow the main flow of traffic turning left into Calle Diana). Turn right onto the Plaza and exit left into Calle Loreto where you will see the Hotel in front of you. If the hydraulic bollards are in place, stop in front of them and come to the Hotel and we will open the street for you. If the street is open drive to the Hotel and we will direct you to the parking after you have deposited your luggage and checked in.

It will save you a lot of time if you print the PDF map from our web site.

BY BUS
Walk towards the supermarket at the bus station and turn right into the Calle de la Via. Take the first turning on the left into Calle San Jose and walk to the T junction with Calle Loreto. From here you can see the hotel on your right.

BY TRAIN
Cross the Plaza Oculista Buigues in front of the station and walk towards the main shopping street the Marques de Campo. Turn left into the Marques de Campo and walk to the square Glorieta del Pais Valencia. Turn right into Calle del Cop and proceed to the Plaza de la Constitucion. Calle Loreto is the second street on the left off the Plaza.

BY FERRY
If you are on foot, depending on which pier the ferry has docked at, proceed either via Marques de Campo (see train instructions) or via Calle de la Mar (see car instructions). If you are driving follow the car instructions above.
