A week savoring the sites, flavors, and stories of eastern Newfoundland. We enjoy the New World's first city - St. John's - and we watch whales, view hundreds of thousands of puffins and other birds, look for icebergs, explore coastal trails, and simply have fun exploring with a small group of fellow travellers (20 or less). We stay in great local hotels and we share enough unique adventures to make all of our friends back home very jealous. Folks with ragweed and pollen allergies love the fact that there is no ragweed about. Our Newfoundland Adventures go from the first week in June to mid August...after which whales, most seabirds, and icebergs are scarce.

Typical Daykeyboard_double_arrow_up
On every Wednesday we enjoy a 20 minute walk to the dramatic gannet nesting stack at Cape St. Mary's. Bird watchers get to view the world's most southerly breeding thick-billed murres while all hands look out for whales swimming in the rich clear waters below us. After a fabulous fish'n'chips lunch featuring local subarctic berries (partridgeberries) for dessert we travel to see our secret orchid patch, visit an old fort, and drive on to the historic Trinity area. Moose and caribou join the tens of thousands of seabirds with their eggs or chicks as highlights of the day. Tonight you can enjoy the picturesque highlights of this dramatic coastal area..

Our guests typically range from 45 to 85. Sometimes kids eight or over join the fun. We have hosted honeymooners who want to see the whales but most folks are travellers with a curious mind. Guests typically leave saying "Best vacation ever" and we see many experienced world travellers! You do need to be able to comfortably walk two or three kilometres on some days in order to participate on these excursions - they are active, gentle adventures.

Sleeping and mealskeyboard_double_arrow_up
We use clean, comfortable local hotels. In St. John's we stay at the Quality Harbourview...a new property with a great restaurant. Sometimes we view whales in the distance while eating breakfast. Meals are in restaurants. The days are still wild and exciting while the nights out of town boast a night sky that is full of stars and hotels that are very comfortable. Our holidays include all breakfasts and lunches. We make sure lobster is on the lunch menu at least once during the week. Evenings are on your own but meals are affordable and the options range from pub grub to dinner theatre to very fine dining in the new world's first city.
