Welcome to Casa Colores! Our hostel is relaxing and a great place to spend your days in Tilcara.
You can choose to stay in one of our cozy doubles or in a dorm. The rooms are spacious, the mattresses are extremely comfortable, and the common room is a very chill space to hang out, watch movies, read books, drink a coffee or beer, play some of our instruments and look at the beautiful landscape!
We also have a kitchen for your use, a lovely patio with an outdoor adobe oven. We often cook asados or regional dishes with guests and friends.
From our backyard, you can take a walk by the river up through the mountains. Breakfast, towels, lockers, and linens are included with your stay. We are open 24 hours a day, and you can come and go as you please. There is always hot water.
We are very knowledgeable about things to do in and around Tilcara, and can help you plan your trip through Northern Argentina and Bolivia. Additionally, we have special discounts for our guests in shops, restaurants, bars, bike rental, horseback riding, and other excursions. We speak both Spanish and English.
Tilcara is located in the Andes mountains in the north of Argentina. 3 hours from both Salta and the Bolivian border, Tilcara is not to be missed! It is a small town of about 6,000 people, with a rich culture and history. In Tilcara, there are pre-Incan ruins, several nice hikes, a lot of live regional music, and great traditional food! Also, the surrounding areas are diverse and easily accessible. For example, you can visit Purmamarca, Las Salinas Grandes (salt flats), Humahuaca, and many other small pueblos.

How to get to Tilcara?
From Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Santa Fe, Tucuman, Salta and Mendoza , there are straight buses to Tilcara or Jujuy.
The nearest city is San Salvador de Jujuy, the Capital city of the Province. San Salvador de Jujuy is 1,5 hours from Tilcara and buses go between 1 or 2 hours. The ticket cost usd3 aprox. Jujuy has the nearest airport at 30 km from the city. Taxis or Minibuses take you to the bus station.
La Quiaca (Bolivian border) is 3 hours by bus. The cost is aprox usd4 and buses leavs very frecuently to Tilcara.
If you are coming by car, the routes in the north are excellent to drive. You can rent a car in Jujuy for usd 60 aprox. If you are coming from Jujuy the hostel is behind the stone place, 'Taller de piedra'. If you are coming from La Quiaca, we are 200mts from the Gas Station YPF.
From Tilcara Bus Station you can walk throught Belgrano st, turn left in the first street and cross the bridge of Rio Grande. Turn left again in the main road and walk 150mts in the old train station. Casa Colores Hostel is the big yellow house. Iti s only 600 mts or less than 10 minutes walking.
You can also take a taxi in the Terminal for usd1. Tell the taxi driver the adress 'Radioestacion, casa colores hostel.'
