Visit the medicinal Isinuka Mud Caves and Sulphur Springs where the traditional Pondo people cover themselves in the mud and bathe in the sulphur pools.

Want a African Sunset Screensaver? Take a drive to the local airstrip where the ravens play over the cliff face. Sipping your cool beer you can be at the site of the film Blood Diamond.

Directions


If you are coming from the north, follow the N2 to Port Shepstone. Then take the R61 to Lusikisiki and Port St Johns. Once arriving in Port St Johns you will cross a bridge which at the end, you turn left. Then you will follow the river for about 4 kilometers into town.
If you are coming from the south, in Umtata you will follow the R61 towards Port St Johns for 80 kilometers.
Once you've reached the town centre you will arrive at a junction opposite Boxer Superstore. Here you turn left. Then you will go over two speed bumps, turn right at the next tar road onto Second Beach road. Follow this road for 5 kilometers, and you will arrive at Amapondo Backpackers.

If you are coming by the Baz Buz. You need to arrange a shuttle from Mthata to Amapondo. Please book with reception via email or phone.

For nature lovers, you can hike from Coffee Bay to Port St Johns. Luggage can be arranged to be shuttled.
