LKNZ Lodge is situated in the heart of Ohakune, with magnificent views of Mt Ruapehu and restaurants and bars, supermarket, rentals and shops all within a 2 minute walk.
Just a 20 minute drive up the mountain to Turoa ski field and only a further 20 minutes to Whakapapa on the other side of the mountain.
Situated right on the doorstep of the Tongariro National Park LKNZ provides quality accommodation to suit all budgets, from kitchenette en-suite rooms, flash packer rooms to budget dorm beds spread over three lodges.
We also have a licensed cafe onsite.
In winter, Turoa and Whakapapa ski fields are the largest in New Zealand and receive the most annual snowfall on average. In the summer you can Canoe, River Raft, do the Tongariro Crossing, or even climb Mt Ruapehu or Mt Ngauruhoe (better known as Mt Doom these days from the Lord of the Rings). With action packed activities in the area all year round LKNZ have loads of local knowledge to share with all of our guest. As far as affordable Mt Ruapehu and Tongariro accommodation goes, look no further than LKNZ Lodge.
Our Mountain View Lodge. It is modern and has all its facilities under one roof. The front lodge contains Doubles, 4 beds dorms and Sleeps 4 and 5 private rooms.
The front lodge is very popular in the winter and fills up fast.
Our Back Lodge is older and has a slightly rustic feel to it. The back lodge has the same facilities as the front lodge, with the exception that the majority of rooms are cabin style, and the WC's require a short walk outside to get to them. Our back lodge contains twins, doubles, 4,6 & 8 bed dorms and Sleeps 3 private rooms.
Take advantage of our shuttle service which provides daily transport to the World famous Tongariro Crossing as well as all other walks in Tongariro and Whanganui national park. In winter transport is also provided to Turoa ski field.
LKNZ Backpackers is also the point of contact for all Yeti Tour bookings, providing guided and freedom hire canoe adventures along the idyllic Whanganui River as well as the Bridge to nowhere. 2-6 Day Trips available.

You can get to us by traveling on State Highway 1 and taking the Ohakune turn off on to state highway 49 at Waiouru, alternatively if you are traveling along State highway 4, you also need to take state highway 49 which will bring you here.
