Located in an historic neighborhood only 2 blocks from the beach, Barclay Cottage Bed and Breakfast is close to the many activities of Atlantic Avenue and the Boardwalk area, yet provides a pleasant retreat from all of the hustle and bustle. Coming back to the Cottage is like taking a big step back in time to when things moved slower and living was more refined. In addition to the Boardwalk and beach, there are 3 museums, the fishing pier, many restaurants and clubs within walking distance of the cottage. Surf, fish from beach, pier, and charter boat, golf on one of many courses nearby, play tennis at the Virginia Beach Tennis Center, kayak with the dolphins, stand up paddleboard, learn how to kite surf, or take it easy on some jetskis. 2 state parks and 2 National Wildlife Refuges make for excellent hiking and nature watching.

Accommodations
This 5 room Victorian beach cottage has 2-story wrap around porches loaded with rockers and wicker furniture unpon which to sit and watch the world go by. Each of its 5 rooms is individually decorated, is spotlessly clean, has comfortable beds and crisp linens, and fluffy Turkish towels and robes. Breakfast is served each morning in the Great Room where guests may gather to watch the TV and read or play games. Outdoors, in addition to the porches, there are patios and garden areas which may be enjoyed.

Three rate schedules are in effect - Summer season 5/15-9/30, Spring & Fall season 10/1-12/1 and 3/1-5/14, and Winter 12/1-2/28. Rates are different during the week (Sun-Thurs) and weekends (Fri & Sat) and those for rooms that share a bath are less than those for rooms that have their own bathrooms ensuite. They range from $100/night on a weeknight in the winter for a room that shares a bath to $225/night for a room with a private bath on a summer weekend. Three rooms have queen beds and private bathrooms (two with jetted spa-tubs and showers). Two rooms with king beds (one may be made into two twin beds) share a bathroom located across the hall from them.

Interstate 64 to Interstate 264 East to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. I-264 ends in 21st Street a one way residential street. From the end of I-264 take the fifth right onto Arctic Avenue and drive South five blocks. Cross over 16th Street and pull into parking lot off Arctic avenue.
