One of the most magnificent tropical architectural masterpieces in the region, the Village House is a prime example of bambooi s versatility as main material for construction. It is built in 2009 by an Amsterdam-based Dutch-Filipino designer in a quaint, laid-back village two kilometers from the main thoroughfare of Puerto Princesa.
The WHOLE house(not just one room!) is offered as one accommodation for travelers who have always wanted to experience the real humdrum and colors of a poor and laid-back Philippine village life. It features the following: - Spacious living room with rattan furniture pieces and LCD TV (with 15 cable channels) - Pantry with refrigerator - Wide bedroom with comfy double bed with private balcony - Manicured garden with flowering plants - Toilet and bath with bathtub and hot/cold water - Electric fan ventilation (no airconditioning machine) - Homely, secured and modest neighborhood atmosphere - FREE WI-FI internet connection - cable TV - walking distance to Hartmann Beach!
The income generated from this endeavor will be used to finance the Supplementary Feeding Program for Children, targeting all kids living in the neighborhood where the house stands. This program shall commence in 2011 as soon as enough funds are raised from the house\'s rental. Guests are welcome to take part in this humbling, rewarding and life-changing experience!
Please note that the village where the house stands is located 2 kilometers away from the centermost part of the city. Public transport (tricycles) are available 24 hours a day. We rent out a scooter bike (good for 2) for the exclusive use of guests (PHP 500 per day) so they can check out all attractions of the whole city at their own pace and whim! We can arrange an Underground River tour (inclusive of meals, roundtrip transportation, fees, etc.) for only PHP1,900 per person. This tour has to be booked days or weeks in advance due to the sudden huge inflow of tourists.
We offer Airport Transfer for only PHP 200 (one-way) with a tricycle (the local version of Thailand\'s tuk-tuk). If you want to avail of the airport transfer, please email us and provide your flight details (time, airline, etc.). If you prefer to go straight to our location, please print-out the sketch map provided in this site and show it to the tricycle driver. The maximum charge from the airport to our location should be just PHP 100.
There is a bakery and a small grocery nearby where you can buy food items for your breakfast and other meals.
Directions
From the intersection of Malvar St., National Highway and Wescom Road, one can take a tricycle to Hartmann beach road. Our house stands on the street on the right, one block from the second road hump. Please check the google satellite map in the photos. PLEASE PRINT THE SKETCH MAP PROVIDED WITH THE PHOTOS IN THIS SITE. You can show the sketch map to any tricycle (tuk-tuk) driver so he would know exactly where to bring you.
